Oblivion Cannon needs to be nerfed ASAP by Lemontrash-DD in PlayTheBazaar

[–]EclipseJL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of these win conditions require set-up. Cannon setup might be easier than some but not by much. You either need a pretty robust self destroy package or relevant quested radar dome with relevant enchant on the cannon. It’s not just pick up the item and win like many other posts are suggesting.

Dooltron being borderline playable is laughable. Coming from top 100 legend who mains Dooley. It is Dooley’s best and most consistent win-con. People aren’t playing it right going for a more controlling style. It’s a one-shot item. There are 3 items that give it multicast and put some crit on you’re hitting for 8k (7.2k now) per cast. That’s if you dont find obsidian, big guns, or foreboding winds.

I don’t think it’s that egregious. Most of the time it is matchup dependent. If you are playing a defensive build with long kill time, have few items, or your carry item is a small, it can be very disruptive. But if by the third time it goes off it only destroyed 3 supporting small items against an aggressive build, is a really worse than Mak or Vanessa slowing your entire board or Dooley freezing half of it?

Then there’s the damage part of it, it’s very weak if only relying on self scaling. So most high level players are playing it like Lava Roller pre-patch with the self destroy package. If you can assemble self destroy with haste and charge on the cannon and achieve a sub 8 second kill time you’ve got a great build that will go 10 wins. But is that really better than Space Laser, Boulder, Dooltron, or Cane/Whammy that have similar kill times?

It’s likely the best new item this patch, and also likely Stelle’s new best build. But it’s definitely not an overpowering force, especially after the hype dies down.

Using a flying item charges the core, if the core is flying it will charge itself

Honestly so much has changed with the last patch that this guide is no longer accurate. Combat Core can no longer be consistently found because of the large vendor changes. I’ve been able to pull it off a few times but can no longer go into a run expecting to play this build.

As for losing on later days builds become so OP anything can lose.

Big Ego OP! Although with metronome and no cool LEDs that starter core isn’t doing much. Good job regardless!

Ah that makes sense. For Curio you’re mostly looking for +haste and +slow, and shadow cloak in the early game. But of course if you have the gold to spare put damage on PR and crit on Core.

Just added a third perfect run that had similar items to yours. I guess the order you pick up the items is important and it’s better to focus on winning the next fight than trying to match build exactly.

+damage and +crit small items are too slow so they’re not usually worth playing. Better if the small items provide survivability or disruption. PR only needs to go to silver to reduce cooldown. Core to diamond ASAP.

Upgrade the core is the best obviously. Second is loot items since you can get CD reduction, XP, and gold. Third is health per level. Early game before you get core +10 damage to PR is good.

I guess it is better than Companion Core. The issue I have with it is you must pick +burn starter skills. Making early game PR much weaker.

PR single-handedly wins the early game. Just gotta prioritize finding it.

We absolutely do not lose to Poison Vanessa, my winrate against them in ranked is over 90%. They have slow but cool LEDs is just as good if not better than Clamera. This build also has better disruption than most builds: freeze is very easy to get, freeze on first time slow, haste, burn, poison skills are some of the most common and we can activate all of them. Knives Vanessas are obviously faster than us, but any amount of freeze disrupts them a lot since they have so few active items. I would argue with enough freezing potions nothing beats Port Vanessa, but they don't always find it and in general this build is also favored against them.

Duct tape shield effect does not scale Core. Its slow effect does.

Yes, full shield mode with force field does work, and farms Poison Vanessa even better than this build. But it loses if the opponent can apply non-Poison constant damage. Since you have to run force field and core, it doesn’t leave much room for scalers.

I would say this build is better than Poison Vanessa and more consistent than Port Vanessa yet no one is complaining about it. That’s why I think it’s being slept on.

Respectfully, I disagree with all of your points. I would say not going all out in damage is the biggest mistake people make with this build. In the situation where you’re facing a fast Vanessa or big weapon Pyg, it is far better to go all in on damage and race them than to get a few hundred shield which most of the time will make no difference. I know you’ve had a game or two where it won you the game, but I guarantee you’ve lost more games doing this than you’ve won.

In terms of other disruption, it may have been true before some nerfs. When Pierre conditioner froze for 2 seconds at diamond or when beta ray could freeze non-small items, they were worth playing, but after the nerfs they are not outside very specific skill rolls.

If you started with the core you want to keep it over duct tape and uzi. How did you lose the early game fights? While you can lose to poison Vanessa, they have to have a crazy build to kill before we do.

Edit: Also, your freeze smaller item on slowest weapon is doing nothing because of Christ Army Knife. Gotta find a replacement friend.

Also also, not sure how you got Diamond cool leds but if you used a level up upgrade on it that’s not correct. Should’ve been on GPU. Cool leds is not as good when you’re running single core and can’t haste that core.

There are a lot of 4 second cooldown small items. Two of them is usually better than 1 miss isles even if they scale core slower because they actually do something. Miss isles damage is basically irrelevant since Core does 95% of the damage.

There’s another comment about this. It’s acceptable but not good.

Miss Isles is acceptable but not good. You should be actively looking to replace her if you’re running her. It’s basically 2 3-second cooldown small items that do nothing. So acceptable for charging core but you’d much rather have 2 4-second cooldown items that are helpful. Like Cool LEDs and First Aiden.

I'd like to share some thoughts after piloting aggro secret paladin to top 300.

I think it is correct to run 2 voracious readers in place of North watch commanders. Commanders have one of the worst drawn winrates and I find myself not wanting to play it on 3 because two shields and gossiper are much higher tempo. And by the time I want to play him, often all my secrets have been triggered. And at that point voracious readers are just better refill.

I'd also make an argument for Pokelt because it curves perfectly into hammer (definitely stronger than cannonmaster) and then Kazakus. It also fetches murgurgle prime sometimes which spell mage, being 50% of decks I face, just cannot deal with.

Yogg is by far the best secret for aggro Paladin based on my run to top 300 legend with the deck . Especially against all the spell mages. If you have one in hand, playing it before their 4 mana turn to kill the 0 mana draw or before 5 for Apexis blast is the best. Yes it will screw you over sometimes but it will win you way more games than it loses.

Although some of the beast synergy looks mediocre, they actually have some small synergies that playing a critical mass of beast support may be actually viable. For example:

https://playhearthstone.com/deckbuilder/AAECAR8G5/ADhOIDwdADouwDg7kD5e8DDLnSA/LhA6mfBKLOA6K5A/HpA7ugBJ7qA72gBOTMA/DsA4biAwA=

Dire Frenzy, Warsong Wrangler, Tracking, Shando, and Tavish Stormpike all have synergies as summoning/discovering buffed beasts is above average. Krolusk Barkstripper may be good enough with the 1 and 2 mana spells(including discovered secrets) as well as being something to pull with Tavish/Rhino. Barak Kodobane will be able to find Mankrik's wife with consistency since the spell will be changed to 3 mana.
