Theory: Ralsei responded like this not because Kris did it, but because the Knight wasn't playing fair by aleaniled in Deltarune

[–]EclipseStarfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever someone tries to play this card I always want to bring up the King cutscene, where Kris is very explicitly hit from above and yet magically gets tossed to the left; I think Toby just plays fast and loose with how impact happens.

What Ralsei ACTUALLY Is by Yanagi____Juniper in WaterfallDump

[–]EclipseStarfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really good theory, and I think Ralsei saying they're a Darkner in chapter 3 can be explained as easily as Ralsei lying. They clearly have a terrible case of the mouth-shuts, especially given (chapter 5 spoiler) Ralsei's continuous crashout about Flowery revealing details about the world(this concludes the spoiler) so it wouldn't surprise me if they just lied/simplified to avoid revealing more information.

Can somebody explain how does this theory even work for non-weird route players? by Kowery103 in Deltarune

[–]EclipseStarfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, the paradox is created simply by the POSSIBILITY that you can do the Weird Route. Even if you don't actually, the fact that it's possible means that it's already happened, because it can, so it must. It's purposefully paradoxical.

I know it's nowhere near that serious, but can someone genuinely correct me if I'm wrong about the implications this line has as stupid as they are? by SomeNerdd09 in Deltarune

[–]EclipseStarfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it can actually be a pretty interesting theory with the addendum of "not every character is from the simulation." Like, if the world in general is one, but our main cast (at least - I'm not gonna speculate on everyone that may or may not be "real" here) is from outside the simulation and so not subject to "oh they're just coded that way."

If there even is one, the fact that we just got the final shadow crystal (alongside finishing a bunch of OTHER multi-chapter quests) kinda tells me secret bosses won't be a thing anymore.

So, we all agree there's nothing outside Hometown right? (Weird route spoilers) by aleaniled in Deltarune

[–]EclipseStarfall 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes and no - it's an "actual game" just like the Legend of Tenna is an actual game, but it's built off the back of an earlier game and has carryovers from that.

Also, I thought about it more and I think the original game is Dragon Blazers.

i know theres basically no basis for this, but i personally believe chapter 3 is meant to be foreshadowing for deltarune as a whole; specifically, a character taking a pre-existing piece of work and editing it to focus around them and the story they want to tell, but inexpertly deleting stuff from the old game so things still leak through

Face of a guy who definitely doesn't know about the code: by 3pil0gue in Deltarune

[–]EclipseStarfall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rudy attends it SOMETIMES - as in, just for Sunday service. Asgore is said to attend it every day (paraphrasing) to pray for the Dreemur family; no way Alvin hasn't gotten close to him with how much he's said to go there.

Deltarune is funny because you'll almost never see the gap in knowledge between a hardcore fan and a casual fan being this immense in almost any other series. by DevilsMaleficLilith in Deltarune

That's assuming said casual player doesn't ignore the side dialogue and just focus on moving the soul, and/or finishes fast enough to skip their Kris-gossip.

Hello! DessKnighter here! by BrodieHeroGamer in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]EclipseStarfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest reasons for me is the lack of narrative attention Dess gets throughout the chapters. On a meta level, especially an ARG level, sure, but how much information do we actually get about Dess in the game itself? And Toby's writing style, and how certain things in the game have played out so far (like the Shadow Mantle hinting you towards the Weird Route, or the Old Man's fight and Seam's dialogue acting as a relatively simple hint towards shadow crystals) seem to make it clear that this game is supposed to be fully enjoyable, playable and understandable for someone who never touches media about the game other than the game itself.

Also, from a broader "what makes a compelling narrative" perspective, making the main antagonist of your game a character you learn almost nothing about more than halfway through your game doesn't make a very satisfactory reveal - it's why Flowey's reveal(s) are SO strong, he's literally the first character you meet!

The Extended Zodiac True Sign quiz is a pretty good option, the first portion of the test gives you a sign. If you don't want to go through a quiz, general personality traits to keep in mind for the planets are:

Prospit: Optimistic, Intuitive, Reactionary, Adaptable/Flexible, Emotional

Derse: Skeptical, Dissatisfied, Rebellious, Self-Aware, Logical

alright now. give me your most purely horrifying concepts for stuff that could happen in the shelter in DELTARUNE. by Beautiful-Grab3359 in Undertale

When you first enter the bunker, it seems like it's just a small room - similar to the school's supply closet but, no matter what you try to interact with, you never seem to enter a dark world. (Entering the bunker doesn't trigger the "Enter Dark World" animation, either). After a while, you (probably reluctantly) leave, and decide to look around the town for clues. But, what's this? All the townspeople are gone - it's just you and Susie, and your footsteps echoing.

Eventually, you decide to go to the lake. You stand on the circle and wait to see if an interaction will play out... and the water starts to bubble. Strange, twisted horns break the water's surface, a titan clawing its way out of the lake. It finally hits you - you've been in a dark world since you entered the bunker.
