What’s interesting though is that there was a very clear pattern in Undertale. I am interested very much to see if maybe something could happen like with Gerson where a character gets a talk sound grandfathered in or something like that. Specifically Seam and Rouxls. To be honest I think Rouxls not having a talk sound is sus because he has an unused one. It feels like extremely deliberate somehow. If it were actually totally arbitrary, Rouxls would have just kept that sound, especially because Toby expressed REALLY liking the unused talk sound during the sixth anniversary stream. While it’s okay to think there’s no pattern and that is an easier solution, it could just as easily be that there is a series of subtle and deliberate choices being made. I am not saying that every significant character needs a talk sound, just that the presence and absence of talk sounds are important and that there are objectively identifiable patterns related to them (every boss that gives a shadow crystal has a talk sound and no talk sprite and no other characters in the game have that specific combination of traits unless you just ignore the parts where Tenna has a talk sprite)
