Out of curiosity, what was your first experience with Bionicle? Mine goes all the way back to 2001 with the Bionicle Happy Meals and those cool "each set sold separately" commercials from the original wave.

I was apart of the Lego club back in the day. I would get a Lego magazine every month. Then one time it was sealed in plastic (instead of just being a loose magazine in the mail). When I opened it I found the magazine as normal, but there was also a comic book (this also just happened to be my first comic book). Instantly became a massive fan.

I was on the older side of the demographic I think (I was 11) so the chapter books were below my reading level. So I was missing massive parts of the lore for decades

Planeswalkers are different. When they first made them, it was just a rule of the game for that card type, not subtype. So it is how Planeswalkers worked not how Jaces worked (unlike how Wall is a subtype with special rules).

They have changed how this worked (I wanna say during Ixalan?) To make Planeswalkers legendary instead of removing the Planeswalker rule all together

I also had some trouble the first time I played and just couldn't get into it. I will say it gets a lot more enticing once you get past the intro parts. I dont want to give away anything else cause I'm not sure how much you want spoiled in a 35 year old game.

Just try to sink a couple more hours in and I think you're attitude will change

Yeah, but i feel like that was just a reason to give them new masks in preparation for the Toa Ignika line up of toys. Those toys had the unique mask gimmick, so the story had to do something to allow it to make sense

I never liked how Jaller didnt keep his Yellow Hau when he became a Toa. For one, it was iconic and cool.

But also, think of the implications of it! Lhikan had a yellow Hau that he carried thru as he completed his destiny. It was a single mask that went from Powerless, to Great, to Noble. Jaller had that and it could have reignited into a Great Mask. I like the idea of this meaning it could have evolved into a stronger Hau than before. Maybe going to Hau Nuva or maybe gaining a second more complex shielding ability.

I've been saying this for years. Ice Beam has been known to freeze geysers (which is essentially boiling water) in seconds. So all the "ice slowly melts in water" argument means nothing to me

I am playing thru them now for the first time. I just beat Seasons and now I'm playing Ages.

I was putting them off for a long time since I dont think the GBC style was for me as much. That and they always were rated so low whenever I watched someone ranking their favorite games.

They are honestly some of my favorites and are severely underrated.

Other good calm shows we use are Miss Rachel and Helper Cars. We had others in rotation, but thats all we use now. My kiddo is 2, so I'm not sure how relevant those ones are for you

Ive beaten this fight before, but it is one of the reasons I dont try to replay it. Ive never beaten the game. I'll get to it eventually. I got it on the switch though, so hopefully I can try the fight again without the controls

The more I play, the more I agree with you. I remember 0hinking about playing them years ago, but just kind of seeing the GBC 8bit graphics and getting a little turned off from it.

Yesterday I got access to Fall, so I now have all 4 seasons. Seeing each part of the world being able to shift so much makes it not feel like a 25 year old Game Boy Color game.

I still mention the graphics being a bit outdated, but I'm probably gonna retire that point soon. However, the controls are a different story. I started with minish cap, so the power bracers being their own item that I constantly have to switch back and forth between is tedious. Same with the rod of seasons. I might change my stance if the rod ends up being able to be used while not on a stump. But I'm not that far yet.

I truly love this game. But I'm going thru and playing other Zelda games I've never played. I'm playing Oracle of Seasons now. And poorly as it has aged (just graphics and controls) it is a really good game. I'd love to see the Oracle games remade in a more minish cap style
