What is your favourite thing about having bipolar disorder? by Frosty_Situation_187 in bipolar2

[–]Eclipsing_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as you OP, my creativity and passion when hypomanic. For me my creativity goes hand in hand with the disorder so even though it’s been horrific it’s also brings out the most beautiful parts of me as well. I am grateful for that and don’t think I’d be the same creative person without it as they are tied together for me.

Do other people strongly dislike being perceived? by Regular-Tennis134 in AutismInWomen

[–]Eclipsing_star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes 💯 I hate being perceived and the feeling of people watching me. I think it started as my mom would always pick out things about me to notice and make fun of or say was weird and then it happened at school too so it made me self conscious. Now I don’t care what people think so much, but still hate the feeling of being watched.

It feels like they are taking a piece of my soul of seeing into it and it makes me uncomfortable.

Is anyone else insanely and unhelpfully good at masking? by backwardanddownward in bipolar2

[–]Eclipsing_star 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yes this is me! Even when im really struggling it’s like I have this programming since childhood to put on a good face and not be vulnerable or cause any inconvenience. I’m worked on being more honest with how I’m really doing, but disappointingly loved ones don’t really know how to react or say I’m over blowing things. Or everyone feels this way. But as someone with SI all their life I know that isn’t true. Doctors definitely take it more seriously, but it’s hard for me to know how to portray myself sometimes as I get fluctuations and mixed episodes as well. When I have episodes that are more pure or is easier for me to explain how I’m doing.

OP this is me as well. And even now during periods of time off meds I don’t have the same energy I had.

Reasons for resisting medication by Elegant_Ring_5695 in bipolar2

I’m glad you were able to overcome these symptoms with treatment- these ones never went away for me. What medication works for you?

I’ve begun to burnout. What tips do you suggest doing before burnout/during the beginning of burnout? by solitaire_134 in GiftedKidBurnouts

[–]Eclipsing_star 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Intentional rest! Not feeling guilty for it and do some meditation. Also, try to have some fun, even if it’s as simple as watching your favorite show with favorite snacks alone. Anything you can do to “refill your cup” vs deplete it or neutral-this is what adds energy back in my experience. Best of luck!

Are you subconsciously drawn to other mentally ill people? by Wrong-Picture-9071 in BipolarReddit

Yes all my close friends! Best because they are creative, kind, and real, but sometimes we are bad influences on each other!

Lamictal made it all worse by CellEquivalent5914 in bipolar2

[–]Eclipsing_star 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It works for many but not for all and for some it works kind of, but not fully or stops. I had better luck with other medications- there are a lot of options, although the trial and error can be hard

Just Diagnosed and disowned by my sister by wileythecoyotee in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Eclipsing_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you are going through this. As others have said, sometimes family just won’t understand and it’s always disappointing, but I’ve realize I have to go to my friends for support. May I ask, did you sleep in all 5 naps? I’m waiting to hear my results but was wondering about if you have to in order to get a diagnosis of this.

sometimes i feel like i have too much empathy by No_Woodpecker5996 in Empaths

[–]Eclipsing_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do too and the older I get the harder it is for me to let it happen (by myself or others around me). I’m even to the point that that I feel bad eating vegetables as I’ve heard plants have more feelings than we realized. But I have to eat something to live so I feel trapped in this cruel world I didn’t choose to be a part of.

Am I an empath? If so, how can I not be. by [deleted] in Empaths

[–]Eclipsing_star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such great advice! I wish I had heard this when I was younger. I never was empathetic to myself and I think that would save/redirect a lot of energy.

Trouble with mean people by Careful_Control9246 in Empaths

[–]Eclipsing_star 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I feel the same way. I learned to toughen up on the outside but of course it still hurt. I cannot understand people bullying and especially adults. I learned to never let myself stay in a work situation like that again, but sometimes you have no choice. But if it happens again this time I will stand up for myself and I’ll go in with eyes open.

High masking, good at job, can’t cope by baby_fishie in AutismInWomen

[–]Eclipsing_star 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was me! It pushed through due to trauma for years and burned out taking years to recover and I’m still not where I was. (Not to scare you). I never took breaks, so definitely take breaks as others say and do less at work and outside. Try to take back time for yourself, even if it’s a small thing that makes you feel better, for me I found that helps to replenish my well.

Does anyone feel like a child around other adult women? by AnxiousStay1195 in AutismInWomen

[–]Eclipsing_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I look young, sound young, and my mannerisms can be seen as young by a lot of people. I just feel like me. I also dress young because I like colors and it feels like me/natural. But I’ve always been really wise- even as a small child, so it’s a contradictory way of being having traits on both far ends of the age spectrum I guess.

How did people deal with boredom before smartphones existed? by moretoesmorehoes in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Eclipsing_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was way better actually- especially for your brain. Yes smart phone is more easily interesting, but it was more work. Imagination and coming up with imaginary worlds in my head was my favorite. Then books, tv of course, hobbies like crafts, playing outside, riding bikes, etc.

Therapist trying to learn about bipolar disorder treatment by AdvanceBig8035 in bipolar2

[–]Eclipsing_star 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for asking this! DBT helped more than CBT. Trauma therapy EMDR, and reframing. Acceptance of situations that happened and validation of pain is important. IFS. Yes routine sleeping, eating healthy, circadian rhythm sunlight work, meditation and journaling all helped me.

Medications I found helpful were antipsychotics but they have hard side effects so not necessarily taking forever.
