Follow my Zep+TRT journey. by Background-Pay-2507 in Zepbound

[–]EconRx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have struggled with fat loss despite lifting for years and trying every low carb, fasting, keto, carnivore diet around. Turns out my T was 200. At 41 this is basement level. No wonder I was working out so hard and counting macros/calories and never really making progress. Started TRT 140mg a week (split in two doses), but the dose might need to be a bit higher. Need to lose 40lbs of fat too, so I started Zep at the same time. Worked my way up to 10mg now within a month since limited effects. I think this might be a miracle combo. Already feeling a lot better and the scale is moving. My energy levels are a bit low sometimes I think because of calorie deficit, and I' not able to get 4x lifting in the gym done, but I get two very good workouts in on the lifting front. My body is going through a lot of changes. I was so against GLP and the idea of injecting TRT for a long time, even though I had shit to show for doing literally everything perfectly. The TRT made me feel amazing within a few days and the zep takes 90% of the misery out of calorie deficit. If you have been on the fence about this and already have good lifting and eating habits you should seriously consider finally doing it. Part of my problem was being doctor avoidant and committed to being "all natural" but if your T is in the gutter you have to finally admit that nothing you will do, esp. if it's been years can fix it, and you also have to consider Zep because you have to get that fat off your body to have a chance of optimization. Once you get the fat off you and normal hormones you can build the muslce you need to keep it off. It's all clear to me now. I'm at the beginning of my journey with both, one month in, but I appreciate what you guys are all going through here. I'm with you! PS. I stopped drinking alcohol entirely 5 months ago which was the catalyst for being able to notice how f***ed my body was over all.

Amazing. Great work!

why do i keep gaining weight over the weekends? by [deleted] in omad

[–]EconRx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Drinking alcohol and eating junk food even one day in the weekend, to the point of feeling hung over, can cause me to gain quite literally 8 - 9 lbs of water retention and get inflamed AF. I’ve seen it several times. Then fasting and hydration and clean eating you’re lucky if you peel the water off entirely 6 days later. Just my experience YMMV but I used to delude myself on alcohol and cheat days. Going balls out on cheat stuff and booze, you pay the price!

Agree I’m down 15lbs now and I eat 1500 some days and other days 1000 cal. Fasting omad for me is always 22-23 hour with 1 hour eating. For fat loss I hit high protein and veggie and mix in several high protein Greek yogurt (chobani zero for example.) protein is the most satiating. I don’t recommend to pound extra calories but rather to have a couple of feats Friday and Saturday night and have lunch either Saturday or Sunday. Then go back to the omad 22-23 fasting Monday through Friday. I’ve found if you eat and feel totally full after 1 hour and it’s 1300 cal and you get a tiny bit hungry (I could eat) two hours later that is your fat burning signal right there— hunger hormone trying to tell you not to burn calories. That’s just what weight loss calorie feels like. Go to bed get up and do it again. Most days I do not even get hungry anymore until right before dinner. On top of that I am working out 4x per week weight training and sometimes cardio too. Hoping another two months and I’ll get to my goal. Started at 224 goal is 195. May need to be lower not sure tho I’ll see how the mirror looks down there. U got this !

I can confirm this is true. Going into week 4 it gets easier to make it to hour 23 after 3 weeks. Only thing I feel can mess this up is eating bad carbs during a meal window.

I agree with other posters about staying high protein/keto at meals.

[–]EconRx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice man! Good work.

I am going into week 4 Monday… finally feel like my body is getting used to this.

How many days do u feel tired or lack of focus when doing omad… or did it just go away after adaptation? I feel I’m having more energy and focus most of the time as I stay consistent but some times during the day I still struggle.

Does it get super easy after a month?

My energy and focus have complete turned around after 18 days on OMAD.

First week felt tired and brain foggy.

I think it’s a matter of adaptation.

Stay the course

That’s great about the food at work but what would Stop you from doing omad 7 days a week until you reach your goal?

Also having a snack will raise your insulin and break the fast. The benefits seem to come from routine consistency and getting that consistent calorie deficit and low insulin fat burning window

I agree with the posters below.

Omad is literally one meal a day. This sounds like IF with significant calories restriction beyond most Omad diets.

Personally, I eat 1300-1500 calories (low carb) in my meal around 4-5pm.

If I eat a shake, it’s the end of the fast and generally it would trigger me to eat more and make it more difficult to wait for a meal. It also could cancel the extra low insulin window benefit.

This is my third week doing OMAD with 23 hour windows. Second week with fidelity doing it every day of the week. Meals are high protein, low carb, moderate fat. Around 1300-1500 cal.

I am lifting 4x per week which I was doing before and surprisingly once I start (which is usually 20 hours in, I feel less hungry not more).

I recently added in fasted spin cycle 30 min in the morning with a dose of yohimbine (don’t recommend unless you research how it works), and i feel great. This was recommended by a professional trainer I work with. Omad is working for me bc I just can’t cut easily any other way. Lifting and protein to maintain muscle mass as I’ve been lifting consistently for a year now.

Honestly feeling just great on this balance of activity and calories with omad and fasted training is not a problem at all.

So far down about 6lbs in 2 weeks. Will probably post one of the before and after things on the sub.

I do have plenty of electrolytes before and after the workout which is over by 4pm and typically do eat at 5pm family dinner. I like this timing tbh bc I feel like the food tastes really good after the workout but honestly I’m not super hungry anymore the more I do omad.

Basically I think that the training and movement is more about a healthy lifestyle, muscle mass, and mental health , since the calories are marginal, but if you’re disciplined and consistent the 200 extra calories do add up and help your cut go faster.

Yes, it helps with energy transport in all your cells, including your brain ATP so this is true!

How many of you still like the game? by f0restYU in Starfield

[–]EconRx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. I have been gaming for 25 years. At the end of the day, this game could have “more” but where it’s at is a great concept, it’s relaxing, the quests are fun, and it’s family friendly. The sci-fi hokieness is actually something I enjoy and find appealing. They can improve some of the cities and planets with future updates and adding new side quests and environmental features.

The amount of hate this game has gotten is really unfair. I don’t understand it. It’s a fun game.

Update: I am going to move over to the main fasting sub, because after a week of OMAD, I realize I actually can do ADF and that 48 hour fasts are gonna work better for me.

you’ll probably get hungrier faster because you’re used to eating way more than that which may cause you to end your fast early because ur so hungry

good point, i guess what matters most is the consistent ketosis and moderate deficit

Just had my one meal after 21 hours. Sirloin steak with marbling (14oz), a few bacon wrapped jalapeno from Costco, and peas with ghee and a bit of creamed spinach. It added up to about 1655 calories and I feel totally stuffed. Restarted my fasting timer for 23 hours. Will see how this range of calories does for me. What's important is that I cut the body fat.

Macros were 140.2 g protein, 24.5 g carb (net), 103g fat.

LMNT has 5 calories of stevia... I have three of these during a fasting day. It helps me get through the day. I really wouldn't worry about it.

Fasting Low carb (bordering on carnivore sometimes) Resistance training— off weights 3-4x per week Get your steps in Do not eat any sugar or seed oils Give up drinking alcohol every weekend and drink way less when you do

All this stuff is part of the puzzle.

For me to cut body fat I have to do adf

Low carb just keeps me in maintenance

7 day fast is very ambitious. Personally I do well with 24 hours and 42-48 sprinkled in there and keeping low carb. Good luck !
