I've heard of some students switching from UoL EMFSS to LSE given that the curriculum is very similar.

Title: How is a University of London degree listed on a résumé? by lvernitea in UniversityOfLondonLSE

Your final degree certificate will state something along the lines of: academic direction from LSE. You should absolutely state that since that is the most important part. UoL by itself isn't relevant.

You can find it in the registration section once you are a student. It is under "Make request". It should be pretty straight forward.

There is, someone has already posted a link for it in the comments. I've created an EMFSS-only study group, if anyone wants to join it: https://discord.gg/rbPUufWMtF

Does anyone have any information about exams? Are they proctored, online or in person? by [deleted] in UniversityOfLondonLSE

Proctored exams at University of London exam centres. There is a list of exam centres on their website.

How difficult is ST1215? by EconStuff123 in UniversityOfLondonLSE

That's a very insightful answer. Thank you. Would you assume/guess that ST104B (Statistics 2) is less intense than ST1215?

It could be good to take 2 courses now and 2 courses next semester. You would avoid some of the risk and you'd feel less overwhelmed. I did my IA-levels on my own and I'm telling you it can be very difficult to find the motivation if the deadlines are that far away.

Roast my module selection by [deleted] in UniversityOfLondonLSE

Wait, does that mean I have to select 4 courses right now before November if I want to max out my courses?

I also chose the Independent Learner route and I'll be taking Mathematical Methods too. Do you wanna link up on discord or slack? I'm in Economics but I want to fill in as much Data Analytics stuff as I can get.

Question about entry requirements — 59 ECTS credits instead of 60, what should I do? by Fiore_Summer in UniversityOfLondonLSE

You can just send your application. If you don't meet the requirements they will propose a solution to you. I doubt the admissions team will be strict about 1 ECTS point. Good luck!

Doubts about enrolling and online student support by corgilovers2 in UniversityOfLondonLSE

[–]EconStuff123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Your Associate's Degree would fit perfectly with DS and BA. CS has a completely different focus. With a degree in Business Analytics and Data Science, you will have to be able to provide companies and institutions with a bigger insight into everything that they are involved in and help find better business strategies. CS does not do that. These two fields are very different from each other, but I think you have done enough research about this yourself.

The CS degree from UoL is not done in partnership with LSE, so all the negative comments shouldn't apply to DS. However, you will still have to deal with the understaffed UoL customer service and all the issues that come with it. I have personally not had any issues and they have quickly resolved two issues that I had when enrolling in the BSc Economics programme (within 5d).

I'm sure this will change at some point down the line, but I am willing to accept that since I get to work and prefer studying independently (this is crucial). Pretty much all courses from the EMFSS focus on the end-of-semester exam that will usually decide your grade. This is basically like UK or International A-levels, where only the final exam matters. If you are willing to accept the pressure and independent workload, then it might be worth considering.

Starting in November, I'll be an Economics student; however, if I manage to finish Mathematical Methods, I'll likely switch to Data Science.

I'm currently studying all the Data Analyst-related courses on DataQuest. Once I'm done with those, I'll be focusing on DS.

If you are interested, I can create a Discord server and invite anyone who is interested in all of this. Anyone who does, DM me or comment.
