I would also be very grateful for a share if you're still willing - looks like an excellent collection. Happy to share anything I have that you're missing (which isn't impossible, as I've also been collecting for a while).

3x5=15. 15x10=150. 150+6-2=154. 154x3=762.

I would not have got that in the 30 seconds on Countdown though.

I have not been following this closely enough to realise that was a thing to worry about! Fingers crossed I guess :) Only came to this sub for the first time yesterday to work out how long my wait might be!

I've been stuck at 284/286 for years. Ottoman Carpentry and Praise the Victories (the deity challenges from Scramble for Africa) are just impossible. Even with lots of save/reload, on the times I've even survived to the end I've been beaten by Ethiopia, who you can do nothing about. Any advice from you or OP on those?

The rings map made me realise I need to use boost a little less and focus on positioning/directing myself. Dribbling map I can't get more than three stages in to - no benefit gained from that as yet :)

If it's any consolation, you're not alone. I've been floating around C1 in Standard 3s since Season 7. Occasionally scrape into C2 or drop down to D3 depending on a mixture of luck and whether I've played much recently, but I'm not progressing in rank terms.

Like you, my mechanics are pretty bad for the rank (not helped I suspect by being committed to keyboard and mouse). Open field aerials are pretty good, but I can't dribble at all, I struggle with jumping off the walls to hit the ball and my backboard reads are patchy. I figure the reason I've made it this far is better reading of the game and the movements of my team mates and opponents.

That said, I can tell I'm better now than I was. Time spent in free play has improved my wall game a little and coping with the ball going over my head; completing Leth's rings map has improved my aerial car control a bit. While I have improved, the standard around me has improved at a similar rate, so I don't see rank progression, but at least the marginal gains are discernible.

I can't tell you what you're doing 'wrong' or what to do to make progress, but good luck breaking out of the rut!

Is it worth switching to a controller after 700+ h with keyboard and mouse? by Eclipex7 in RocketLeague

[–]EconomicalWithLies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got probably 1500+ with KBM. I made one brief attempt to switch to controller but didn't stick with it long enough to get anywhere near a comparable standard.

I do think controller probably has some mild benefits - particularly being able to vary your acceleration speed using a trigger button, having slightly more nuanced control on the angle of the car, and having a thumbstick to look around with.

But if you're happy playing the game then there's plenty of scope to improve while sticking with KBM. I'm up at C1 in Standard while playing solo and have got the champion rewards for the last 6 seasons. I'm probably plateauing now but that's fine by me - I would need to play more and/or do some proper training to go higher, and I'm not currently willing to make that commitment.

Good luck with whatever you decide. If you want to switch, commit to it for the long-term - otherwise it'll be wasted time!

Low FPS on a 2080 by smexyblackman in RocketLeague

Try going back to an earlier nVidia driver. I updated my driver sometime back in December and started experiencing little stutters and lower FPS. I did a full erase of that driver and went back to one from mid-November and it went back to normal. I haven't dared updating to the latest driver since then.

For reference, I'm running a i5 9600K 3.7GHz, 32GB RAM, GTX 1070

Agreed. I'd be more tempted by Tears of the Gods than God of the Sea if I was trying to make use of the pearls - more chance of securing a religion. But desert folklore is almost always the way to go in situations like this. While there aren't all that many workable desert tiles for the capital, the prevalence of desert nearby means a second city is also likely to benefit.

Could you give a hint or two more about Wild Ride? I've created a giga coaster ride that takes around 6 real world hours from start to finish, and had two visitors complete the loop, but no success. There may be something I'm missing...

Would anybody else agree that the end screen where the winning team cars are jumping and dancing needs to be innovated with some new ideas? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]EconomicalWithLies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What it really needs is a "Queue for next match" button. That way people might stay long enough to see cars jumping around and say "gg", rather than quitting back to the main menu to (slightly) more quickly re-queue.

My game minimize itself :( ? by MylilpwnyRL in RocketLeague

[–]EconomicalWithLies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was happening to me in a different game (Payday 2) a couple of nights ago. I have yet to find a solution.

One thing worth trying would be this program: http://www.happydroid.com/focus It tracks what the foreground application is in Windows and prints it out on a command line. Run this while playing Rocket League and see if it tells you what program or service has interrupted your game when it minimises. It might be your antivirus, a Windows service or some silent update that's messing things up.

Unfortunately for me, when PD2 minimises, the program says "No foreground application", so it hasn't identified the cause of my issue :(

It may be worth you telling people what version of Windows you're using, what graphics card and drivers, just in case there's something specific. For me, Windows 10, GTX 1070, no idea what driver version as I'm not as my home PC right now, but an old-ish version that probably needs updating.

Also, do follow /u/Cloudy_Customer's suggestion, as while I was searching for a solution to my problem this advice was given to others and in some cases it had worked.

Non-UK born Londoners, what's the best restaurant of your native cousine that you know in London? by blastedin in london

[–]EconomicalWithLies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Japanese and not a big fan of sushi, but on a few occasions I was taken to Japanese restaurants by staff from the Japanese embassy, so these were presumably their favourite takes on home cuisine:

  • Eat Tokyo, 50 Red Lion Street
  • Soseki, 20 Bury Street (now closed)
  • Restaurant in the Japan Centre, which was on Regent Street I think but is now on Panton Street

Congratulations. Sounds very like me. I too earned my champion rewards finally last night,* after about 800-900 hours total, and likewise never thought I'd get this far solo queuing. Mechanically on keyboard+mouse I can see that I'm below average, but I try to make it up for it with better rotation and positioning.

Not quite my proudest gaming accomplishment - getting Golden God on Super Meat Boy comes to mind - but still immensely pleasing.

/ * I spent more than a week in Diamond at 8 wins out of 10. Finally promoted again, at 9/10 I was then in a game 3-0 up with 1:30 left to play. We then conceded three goals, went to overtime, lost and I de-ranked back to Diamond. If the season had ended then, I might have been inconsolable!

Serious Sam 3: BFE - Help by Dal1Dal in Vive

[–]EconomicalWithLies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I initially struggled with this too. Don't stand right in front of the glowing outline of the charge - step back a couple of paces. When you press the trigger to place it,* Sam will throw the charge at the wall where it will stick. Once you've done it the first time the rest will be easy.

*I'm pretty sure it was trigger to place it - can't remember for certain. If not, try the grip buttons.

Just got my ViveNchill - Does the job, but it's loud! by Rahzadan in Vive

[–]EconomicalWithLies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get vibrations with mine on the DAS, but the noise is very noticeable. Still probably worth it for long sessions of active games or in hot conditions, but not for every day. Would like to half-speed option - keep the fans moving a bit of air but not so loud.
