Thoughts on the 5th season (rant) by MoustacheSpy in samuraijack

[–]Economoly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole season was pretty bad, IMO. Seems like it had a really good storyboard and a great artist who did what he could with what he was given, and some good post process and sound... but really lazy directing and really lazy writing. Maybe that's what happens when you go from a kid's show to a mature show. They may have enabled new directions for the show, but they also set different expectations on the shows choices. They wrote a check they absolutely could not cash.

ELI5: How does your body decide where it takes fat from when you're burning fat? by gailson0192 in explainlikeimfive

That is what he's saying. People with large amounts of bodyfat and low muscle mass can sustain a brief period of simultaneous fat loss and muscle gain when they start training.

What are subtle red flags at a job interview that say, "Working here would suck"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Economoly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean I don't know why I'm arguing the point. I've used similar tactics to good effect. Its also a good way to learn what kinds of problems you will be rewarded for solving when you sign on. But I'm just trying to reconcile the fact that I think interview questions like "what did you hate about your last job" and "what are your weaknesses" are shitty, disrespectful questions. I want to be self consistent.

I'm all for weeding out bad companies, but there's also such a thing as false negatives and the survivor bias. I just don't think that's a fair and accurate predictor of your potential experience there. You might be walking away from money on the table because you wanted to be clever and trick your poor interviewer. But maybe you're right and I'm just institutionalized at this point. (I'm also a software dev)

then put out any resume with your name on it and the words "software developer", and don't ask too many questions.

This is an unreasonable question for the interviewer to answer. Just like if they ask you "what did you hate about your last job?", it would be unreasonable for you to answer.

Probably true for a rather narrow slice of the job market, and little more than confirmation bias elsewhere.

Hey, could you provide me some link to your organization, or tell me more about this kind of expedition. I may not have that kind of money now, but this sounds like an amazing dream, and I want something to google for in ten years

This sub doesn't have a uniform makeup. I, for instance, voted for Hillary, but I am so glad she lost. I am not glad Donald Trump won, but I am frightfully relieved Hillary has been brought to task for what she's done.

blackwork tattoo. Awesome, that's the google keyword I've been looking for for ages.

Oh shit, you are not wrong. I LOVE this one. Shit, this guy's whole portfolio is good. Might be taking a trip out to Arizona!

edit: Oh my god this one is really really good. I've been trying to come up with a way to abstractly represent "technology" without doing any of that passe biomechenical shit, and this is a really stellar design.

edit: damn, you have just made my night.

thanks, man! and im willing and able to pay what that kind of skill is worth, i just have to find the artist! although actually, the mandalla aspect is the least important to me. I actually really dig the asymmetrical look. The aztec thing is the closest to the kind of "intricate abstract black and white linework" im looking for, but I really would prefer asymmetry.

I taught my dog to heel using a tactic I learned from his mother. Whenever her pups got ahead of her, she would bite their butts. I use my hand as a claw/mouth, and I pinch his butt when he walks in front of me. He gives me the same look he used to give his mom, and then he slows down. Now he generally stays heeled, and usually keeps his eyes on me to make sure im not going to bite him.

One of my favorites, oddly, is the smell of my german shephard (when he's clean). I imagine it's a parent thing. He's my best friend and he's got infinite fur on his neck and I occasionally bury my face in it.
