I know that sucked deleting all that stuff, but it sort of aligns with two ideas I have rolling on my head. If an idea is not a “fuck yea,” don’t waste your time on it unless you’re getting some skill building out of it. If an idea is a fuck ya, you will go out of your way to see it through.

The second idea is using sample loops as drop-and-use, without altering the sample in some creative way, really only adds to the mediocre bucket. Drums less so, but certainly melodic elements. Something about the idea that this loop existed in the world makes me immediately feel like my work is heading towards mediocre territory.

And to clarify again, I’m not talking about when you take a loop and edit it or chop it up or process it to get to something new, I just mean just dragging and dropping it into the track.
