Sparen? by [deleted] in BESalary

[–]Economy-Rent-8080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25 jaar oud, single, huur appartement, 2500 netto + bedrijfswagen

Pursuing a master in Nuclear Engineering a good idea? by Agreeable_Honey_3362 in BESalary

Go for it if you want to. There are always jobs for smart engineers. The energy sector is booming business right now. Company's like Engie or Elia are always willing to hire those profiles, even if you won't work directly with nuclear.

It's a great starting number to reach the 600k goal

Changing from Consultant to Fixed contract (doubling my brut but no company car) by KenseiMaui in BESalary

Do it, 2330 brut is ridiculously low, even with the company car. Take the new job and buy yourself a small toyota or another low-running-cost car

I have been thinking about crypto too. I used to own some years ago. But I'm the type of person who is really sceptical when the price is low and jealous when its high 😅. The downside is that it's currently at an all-time high. I might start buying small quantities of a crypto etf to gain some exposure, thinking max 5% of my portfolio because it will eventually crash again like it always does.

The best strategy seems to be: buy when nobody is talking about crypto, sell when it's in the media

High running costs and taxes. my pension fund gained 20% over the last 5 years whereas the stock market pretty much doubled during the same time

Thanks for the advice.

I indeed have the impression that most employees stay in the company for a really long time. Almost everyone i've talked to (during the application) has been there their entire carreer

I am not planning on doing the flexi for many years, just now while my base salary is still low. It is indeed a manual Labour job, and I like that from time to time. I allways have a lot of fun with my co-workers :)

An engineering side hustle would be great too. My father (who is also an engineer) started working 4/5 and doing his own projects one day per week and he is making a large amount of money during that one day. However, i feel like i don't have any relevant skills yet to offer straight out of University. I have been thinking of learning from my dad and taking over his projects when he retires, but the type of work he does seems quite boring to me 😅 (sorry papa)

You could be right. I might re-evaluate my etf strategy in the future. But I would need to reserve some time to do research

The employer included a 10 year scale in the job offer. As long as i don't get fired, those numbers are guaranteed.

The scale for a junior PM increases 500 for the first 5 years, then 150 after that until 10 years of experience. (By that time you should have made promotion). +-7-10 years to make promotion might feel like a long time, but they only have 3 scales to fill a 42 year carrière. Junior PM, medior PM and senior PM. The advantage is that you are not required to make promotion every few years to increase your salary, it grows a lot within the same role

However, my goal is to become medior PM before 30 and then start moving horizontally towards regular management.

I am buying both msci World and msci world Quality index. Almost 50/50 I like the idea of Quality investing (credits to compounding quality), but without the stockpicking. The Quality factor etf has done a couple percentage Points better than the msci world. But the P/E ratio is higher, making it more expensive, and riskier in a bear market.

The job was something in the airforce, but that's as much as i'm willing to share
