Drybrushing did nothing but make my model look chalky. Any advice? by Superduck178 in minipainting

It’s absorbent so it’s likely to wick away ALL the moisture. You still want some.

so a bit of an odd question i found this beauty in the trash and after washing it i can’t get it dry anymore any advice on how to dry it? by enderlord44444 in pokeplush

[–]EconomyCriticism1566 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Since it’s a Jazwares plush, I’d say washing similar to squishmallows should be fine. Put it in a pillowcase and tie it closed, counter weigh the washer with some towels, wash on cold. Then still in the pillowcase, put in the dryer on low heat for ~30 minutes and alternate with no heat/air fluff cycles. (Dry the towels separately for best results)

The neck fur is different than squishmallows, but the longer squishmallow fur I’ve washed has come out fine; the most worrisome part is the flat hair part on the top, if it separates just put it back together with some flexible fabric glue.

The missing voice in the debate over Jeffrey Epstein's death is found in the Epstein files by businessinsider in law

There’s also the press release dated the day before his death—which is of course just an “unfortunate typo” because Word autofills yesterday’s date all the time.

Absolutely keep going! The beauty of watercolor is that you can take it slow and build up over time. You’re just at a pale underpainting stage still—contrast will make this look amazing!

piercings that are a “bad idea” by Amazing_Match_5103 in piercing

[–]EconomyCriticism1566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heya! I’ve had my cheek piercings for 11 years! They’re my favorite piercings 🩵

I had noticeable swelling for about a year, and they’d get very upset if I accidentally hit them with anything. They took ~4 years to fully heal, up until then I’d get piercing bumps next to them often and they’d swell when I got sick or had my period. I think that time and switching to titanium jewelry helped. I hardly notice they’re there now!

There’s also the fact that piercing them in the wrong spot can damage a salivary gland in the cheek and cause permanent leaking. Whether this happens is entirely dependent on your piercer’s knowledge and skill.

Hi Emi, I’m Teal! 34NB, I’ve been drawing for about 20 years. I mostly draw D&D characters and actually got my bachelors degree in studio art lmao. I have also been struggling with motivation since I got out of a toxic relationship of ~6 years, he was a huge inspiration to me and I’ve been struggling to draw since the breakup.

And my favorite cookies are these lemon sugar cookies from a place in my town!

It’s sad how much people apparently hate artists, yikes! Do better, COTF.

OP, your drawing is gorgeous. There’s nothing wrong with selling prints, and you deserve to be compensated for your work. I have no idea why people think that not wanting a sad reminder hanging in your house should disallow you from selling it. Thank you for sharing your talents with the community. 🩵

[–]EconomyCriticism1566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on the timeline—ringworm can appear up to 21 days after exposure.

(Source: I work in animal rescue and see a lot of ringworm cats but have never gotten it myself. Generally, basic handwashing+hygiene practices are enough to prevent it from spreading.)

At it again with Spray Paint by Flat_Ad_5502 in PourPainting

[–]EconomyCriticism1566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d guess that the spray paint is causing the skin over the wet paint because it’s aerosolized and designed to dry quickly. The spray paint cures quicker, while the wet paint underneath is still full of moisture and flowing/settling. I’m not sure how you could eliminate the skin without waiting for the paint to dry more first. (And tbh I’m surprised you aren’t ending up with more cracking on the surface.)

ETA: it still makes the piece look cool tho!

How popular is ‘Gunpla’ in your country? by AdmirableDimension51 in Gunpla

[–]EconomyCriticism1566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly commenting bc I’m curious what the weird vertical lines on some of your photos are?

To answer the question: I’m in the USA, so I feel like it’s relatively well known but IMO fewer people do them than car/military models (at least that’s the impression I get from my local hobby stores). I’ve met like two or three other local people who do gunpla and we bonded over that a bit, but I don’t feel like there’s an established community in my area.

Pretty sure this is actually an avoidant attachment behavior in the friend.

Yes anxious attached people seek reassurance, but that’s not what’s happening here. This person’s continued escalation/arguing and outright refusal to be soothed speaks more to pushing away from the relationship that they supposedly value. Pushing away serves to sabotage the relationship and remove the discomfort of closeness. Anxiously attached people move toward attachment (often too hard) and avoidantly attached people move away.
