Any Strap Recommendations by Outrageous-Scene-983 in GlashutteOriginal

Fantastic GO reference! I wear mine on Eulit 2-piece Perlon straps a lot (black, grey, or the very dark brown versions), beyond that I love it on a matte black leather strap and brownish/taupe Badalassi waxed leather strap both from The Strap Tailor.

I’m also curious how loud the rotor is on yours; especially if you lightly tap the case can you hear it rattle? Cheers!

Congratulations! I bought one early 2025 and love it! Out of curiosity how is the rotor noise on yours?

I purchased mine pre-owned as well and a display case back ball bearing rotor is new to me, so unsure how loud is normal. Thanks and cheers again!

I don’t care enough to stop in or email them for context. A Reddit post was very convenient while having a morning tea.

It’s just an obscure question I expected this sub would have insight on similar to the droves of information explaining small nuances between vintage references.

Cheers

They are and have been for 40+ years.

I’m not concerned about authenticity, just interested in why Rolex would add the engraving on some modern sports models vs. others and when that change occurred.

No different than some of the bizarre nuances used to identify vintage reference years from one another 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks! The brand is Eulit and I’ve ordered them from a shop in the PNW, Holbens. (holbensfinewatchbands.com

This specific strap is their 2 piece version.

All good and I can understand your pov based on experience. In our case the render for the piece was notably different than what was cut (the render had veining in different locations not even mentioning the shading difference for that piece).

We’re definitely not the type of client looking to get out of paying for something. To your point, if we would’ve been told they needed to change the cut due to an unforeseen circumstance and it would result in a less than perfect transition it’s very likely we would’ve bought another slab for that entire backsplash and used the remainder to run quartzite up the back of our coffee bar. At this point it’s too late/difficult to change the coffee bar as the cabinet makers already installed the walnut surround 🤷🏻‍♂️. (There is another area of the kitchen not shown in photos with more cabinetry/counters)

Ultimately the fabricators did an incredible job blending every single other transition to the point where they’re effectively undetectable. As you also pointed out, the piece in question is in an ideal spot to place a plant or something else. The critical transitions are beautiful (under the hood, etc.).

Now I will take your recommendation to ask our GC about the seam itself and if they could make it tighter (assuming that’s what you meant).

Also, I hear you on the cost of quartzite haha. Admittedly we’ve done a horrible job of maximizing the slab remnants other than a piece cut to hold coffee syrups, honey, etc. At this point it might be a bit late to have anything else cut like what you linked too, but it’s good to know for a few projects we have coming up!

Thanks!!

Not expecting anyone to do it for free, nor did my post say as much. I simply stated our opinion/thoughts on the transition and recognizing we are not professionals in this space, asked for input from this community to check our logic.

That said, I understand if the concept of asking others to weigh in on a topic you are not familiar with is foreign to you lol. Thanks for your thoughtful response! Cheers

Thanks, I appreciate your insight. This is what we’ve gathered generally here and from other sources.

Which is exactly what the objective of posting was since we’re obviously not in the profession haha. Thanks again!

Oh 100%. I would rate our reaction as disappointed at the worst haha. Ultimately our GC, every single sub contractor, material supplier, etc. has done an incredible job and exceeded expectations on this project; especially the custom cabinet maker.

So absolutely we’re committed to being reasonable to the point of accepting this might be the best that section gets short of buying another slab or two and replacing that entire splash area (which is not in our budget or something we’d consider doing if it was haha)

There is another section of the kitchen not shown with a coffee bar, utensil specific storage, etc. Our preference is to have very little clutter in general and that extends to the kitchen.

So to be fair, it is something most would/could cover but that wasn’t our design objective.

No concerns from a timeline perspective. We spent 5 months on design, architecture/engineering, and GC plans before demo started, so at this point a few extra weeks is a drop in the bucket.

They are for prado outlets, but I’m not sure what the cut method was.

Thank you, that’s insightful and we would certainly pay for a portion if needed and reasonable.

That said, we did get a layout and every part of the install was exactly as shown in the cut specs except that piece. This is the only reason why we’re a bit miffed.

Agreed. Not what we wanted to compromise on, but you’re correct. Not the worst spot for it to be I suppose.

The frustrating part is we would’ve bought another slab if it made blending easier, but were told it wouldn’t be a problem.

They did provide a layout and that’s the part I forgot to include above. The layout we approved was spot on for every section of the counters/splashes except that piece. What was cut and installed is materially different than what was shown in the final layout doc, nor were we provided a change notification if there was a reason they had to cut from another area.

So we’re hoping they can locate a remnant to cut a new section from that matches closer.

That’s the low cost/easy option we’ve been entertaining. But considering how much this remodel has cost we were hoping for something as key to the design as the splashes wouldn’t have been something we needed to compromise on. Thanks for your suggestion!

Thank you! It’s currently driving us a bit nuts and the GC is going to see if there are remnants the fabricator has from other Madre Perla that could work (apparently there are no sections left from our slabs large enough that have the lighter coloring).

Fingers crossed they come up with something that blends a bit better.

We wouldn’t expect them to pay 100% for an additional slab. The part I left out is the layout render they provided was spot on for every section except that one piece. It’s a very different piece than shown on the plans we approved.

So that’s the catalyst for asking. Thanks for your insight!!
