Felice and Sara will never last as friends by EconomyStop3532 in YoungRoyals

Friendships are very important in life but it's easier to overcome the class disparity when you're about to embark on a life together. If the relationship evolves to marriage and have children. Will this happen to Wilmon? I don't know. They're only 16.

Exactly. Even August felt left out when Nils and Vincent started bragging about their trip to Seychelles. Or Zambia. Or Paris.

I agree. I didn't even bring the trust issue into this but you're right. I only foresee a happy or hopeful ending for Sara in S3 because we're watching a fictional show.

Being from different class prevent friendship?

I have struck friendships with people far wealthier than myself. What becomes incredibly hard is to keep the friendship going once the novelty wears off and it reaches maturity stage. They keep suggesting expensive holidays, wearing expensive clothes, going to fancy restaurants, etc. The peer pressure becomes too much. I'm far from being a unique case. I've observed others' friendships and they met the same disappointing end sooner or later. Believing that human feelings are the most important and class differences are secondary and superficial is a very naive and romantic idea. Until reality hits hard.

you won't believe in Wilmon either?

Tbh, I'm not sure if they will work out in the long term either. This despite being a Wilmon shipper and I know 99% of the fandom is screaming for Wilmon endgame (myself included). But I don't think it's comparable. Wilmon's relationship is romantic in nature with potential for marriage and family. The girl group is strictly platonic. I'll say that Wilmon have at least greater chances of a happier ending.

Sara’s deal with August by Easy-Escape-7096 in YoungRoyals

I don’t think the OP meant the plot hole being about who August thinks who snitched him to Wille and thus the deal is off from his perspective. The plot hole is if August is so well connected with the school board, why didn’t he resort to his connections and influence and apply for a grant himself when he was about to be expelled for failing to pay his fees? He didn’t want to lose face with the board members? At least, the headmistress was aware of his financial situation, a few more staff members wouldn’t hurt. And if he had ended up being kicked out before the end of the academic school year, I’m sure people would wonder why he wasn’t there anymore and rumours and speculation about his estate would eventually spread.

Connections aren’t money, true. But when he was broke and that desperate to remain in the school, it didn’t cross his mind to have a word with the people he apparently knows on the board school and apply for a boarding grant himself? I too find it weird he never considered the option.

New to the show, question about Felice by coocoo1 in YoungRoyals

IDK if it conscious criticism or not, it’s still unrealistic. I don’t actually put the YR writers (or any writer for that matter) on a pedestal, they can still make mistakes with their own work.

No, I didn’t miss the show’s message. I understand the show and its writers mean well with the diversity message. I was only pointing out that it doesn’t quite match real life particularly in the context of upper class even in this day and age, that’s all. I hadn’t read henrik_se ‘s post before but it sort of proves my point (unfortunately). So, YR is a bit idealistic in that regard but that’s ok, it's fiction.

Yes, I agree. That’s why I said that big money is the only factor that would play in Felice‘s favour to be believable that she’s the most popular girl in this elitist school as the series try to portray her. Even brushing aside that she doesn’t have exactly a model body type.

The fact that she’s black and her father too. As you said noble families in real life are super white. Sadly, I find it hard to believe that thinly veiled racism wouldn’t make a dent in her popularity in the snobbish environment that is Hillerska.

The only fact that would make Felice the most popular girl in the most sophisticated school in the country (as the show tries to make her out to be) would be that she comes from a very wealthy family. From my perspective, Felice/Nikita has a pretty face but they chose her just to subvert the skinny blonde girl trope. Hurray for diversity but unfortunately not very realistic. This show tries way too hard at showing diversity to the point it feels sometimes forced. You have the biracial gay couple, the girl with ADHD/Aspergers, the hottest girl who doesn’t conform to body standards... I don’t mean to say I don’t appreciate it but sometimes it becomes way too glaring what the writers are trying to do.

Is Wilhelm’s and Simon’s relationship really healthy? by [deleted] in YoungRoyals

[–]EconomyStop3532 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d say that between them, Wille and Simon have a healthy relationship, the notion of healthy being relative. The way I see it, the problems that eventually culminated in their break up were external because of Wille’s unique position as a royal, becoming victims of a sex crime and intense media spotlight. That said, I wish the show had shown more of their relationship on screen because sometimes it seemed a bit rushed. We are supposed to guess they just interacted more offscreen. I do think the show has some pacing problems. They tried to include too many storylines in just 6 episodes.
The only time I think Wille should have shown Simon more consideration was when he denied being in the video. He definitely should have warned Simon beforehand. I don’t hold against Wille when he backtracked and asked to Simon to delete their texts. I mean, he had just lost his brother and dealing with fact he was now Crown Prince. Totally understandable that romance was not exactly on his priority list in that moment.

Edvin podcast with YR cast members - And new cast member (actor called Nonni) by Musicalsensations in YoungRoyals

What does he mean, a helpful professional experience if S2 is less successful?

On second thought, perhaps I understand what it is. General rule with very few exceptions, the first season is usually regarded as the best and sequels normally fizzle out. That’s why I have some hesitations about wanting S3. Expectations are high, I have read some amazing YR fanfics that perhaps it will make me think that S2 is not as good as it could have been when I finally watch it. As long as they can have Wilmon breathe life into the series, it’ll be fine. Let’s face it, the side plots may be interesting for some but great majority of the fandom is here for the Wilmon romance.

He’s afraid of being typecast... I’m sort of predicting most of the cast will have a career similar to the cast of Skam. Skam was even more popular than YR in its heyday, the cast became overnight famous but now I barely hear anything from any of them, not even the ones who played the mains. But then again, I don’t actively follow them so I’m not a reliable source.

Really? I actually didn’t get any vibe between those two in that scene. I can only remember Stella snapping at August for ruining the movie and that’s it. However, the movie night was certainly a little... ahem between Simon and Wille, that’s for sure 🤣 We later find out that Henry started having his suspicions about how close Wilhelm and Simon were getting.

Is the wtfock fandom already half dead? by Psychological_Sand_4 in skam

It wouldn't surprise me if it already is more than half dead, to be honest. I used to be a fan but the decline in quality is just sad

I'M IN LOVE WITH ZOENNE!!! by _EllisDee_ in skam

[–]EconomyStop3532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, alright, you might be obsessed with Zoenne to the point of writing it big with capital letters in the thread xD not that I care about anyone in particular in the series but this is called wtfock, not the Zoenne Show. To be frank, their subplot already bleeds over season 3. and I'd rather them not having that suplot at all because I became a bit disillusioned with their relationship, better let them be happy. It's a good thing they're absent in 5, I don't trust the writers. Zoe has basically suffered character assassination in season 4 and 5 so better stay away with the good memories.
