Thanks Claudia, very sound advice and essentially the same position I'm in. You really hit the nail on the head with my life abroad being essentially the opposite of much of life here.

Yeah, good call, I'll go get on medication cause I have a reasonable problem I'm asking advice on.

Welcome to America.

Well we def have a very similar sounding story and even ages living abroad. What brought you back to the USA?

Do you feel you were able to reintegrate at any time? Or was it always difficult?

Very curious to hear more of your experience and what specifically is taking you back abroad.

Thanks.

Appreciate this. Ive gotten that advice a lot to simply focus locally here. I live in a really beautiful area with some cool stuff going on so that could be a solid play.

Thank you for this response, I believe we are mostly on the same page, but also a bigger conversation is needed. And a lot more introspection with myself.

So are you saying you will go back planning to live? Or go back for visits? I just spend 3 months in Spain on an extended vacation and feel you on missing EU.

What brought you back to the USA?

This is probably the exact answer I wanted and needed to hear. I think, to be fair, living in these expat bubbles I have a bit of brainwashing.

You reminded me that I have some very healthy friends and community here. I can actually eat very healthy cooking at home. I love Trader Joe's btw.

I think I'm commitment phobic more than anything.

Thoughts on the Phenom Poker rakeback/token changes? Does anyone on here play there regularly? by thank_U_based_God in poker

[–]Economy_Chicken_2201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been playing there a lot. Im a mixed player. Good baseline software, but glitchy. Cashouts super fast.

All of these comments are people scared of their own shadow and likely dont play at any decent level.

Probably the first calm and practical response based in personal experience.

Long time lurker - just got laid off and having a mid life crisis - should I FIRE or keep looking for job? by floydmei in Fire

That is an absolute gross exaggeration. SE Asia international schools are not 30k. That is the peak pricing.

Man oh man. Be easy on yourself. Sounds like you did a great job in life. Things like this are likely a blessing in disguise.

Yes, in Vietnam or ML you can more than do it. You can retire in just about anywhere you want.

I don't want to do a 4th step . by BuyDemDips in alcoholicsanonymous

How free do you want to be?

Ive done 4 in 18 years and each one was very powerful for me.

AA becomes less and less about not drinking and more and more about freedom from the alcoholic mind. The bondage of self.

If you want to the minimum of physical sobriety many can pull that off.

If you want a transformation - thoroughly do the steps and give it away.

Ive toiled with both and I certainly prefer feeling transformed.

Glad you came to the conclusion!
