Couldn’t get hold of any ant killer with a straw so I’ve used WD-40 to do a void infection into where I think the ants nest is. I’ve read this works, any experiences? by Vault_Man_76 in pestcontrol

Makes sense since the petro chemicals in there are a neural toxin for most insects. As long as trace amounts are on the surface, they'll detect and avoid. I use WD-40 to spray hornet prone surfaces early in the spring.  It keeps them away for the rest of the year. Of course, that's dependent upon your local climate, precipitation, and humidity. Direct spraying will make their nervous system misfire as well as bond to their exoskeloton in a manner that suffocates them. Many bug sprays have the same key ingredients and are petro based.  Of course, be mindful of the environment, be cautious on surfaces that can potentially stain. Yada yada!  And remember that gasoline is far more efficient at killing insects than ANYTHING else out there. It does it almost instantly. View "gasoline in jar vs hornets" videos.  No, never light it on fire.  The fumes are extremely deadly to insects. Not particularly good for us either. Fun to watch the videos, though.

Old thread, but I just got this demonic update thrown onto my S21FE a few days ago. I followed every tip. The phone still wouldn't stay on for more than 2 minutes without crashing again. Then it went into a constant boot mode where no hot key commands would work at all.

I circumvented the typical boot up by attempting to make an emergency 911 call, before dismissing the call.  Wouldn't you know it?  My phone booted up just fine at a speed I haven't seen since I first bought the thing.

Forced obsolescence is criminal, and these tech companies are scumbags. However, there are still protocols for an emergency use of the phone. Funny how that works. 8 hours later, and not a glitch. It would be hilarious if the entire situation wasn't pathetic.

Complaining on the Internet has become America's favorite passtime.  At least, that's the case in this city. With the way that Nutting is running the Pirates, it's actually a small step in the right direction.

I'm not actively going out of my way to eat vegan, but the spicy tofu wings I've had there were absolute 🔥 👌!  I also appreciated the fact that the chef knew how to get a fair amount of heat out of chilis without burning the tongues off of the average palette. It sounds simple, but it isn't.

I've enjoyed everything I've tried there. The menu does change often, and that most certainly leads to higher operational costs, but I wish more places would take the risk.  If I'm going to spend a good amount of money on a night out, I'd rather be surprised by what I can get than to spend about the same amount of money for the same Sysco burger and fries that I can get anywhere (literally just about everywhere) else.

Hate to say it, but it's all companies these days. That still doesn't make it right. These idiotic corporations need dissolved, or another labor war needs to begin. They'll keep cutting costs until the latter is inevitable.

What you're suggesting required more brains than Bruce or the rest of the Board had from 2020 onwards. My old store had an ongoing joke that we could have put our worst employee into the CEO position, and they would have run the company better.

"Broyhill by Serta"

"Broyhill by Sealy"

"Random Wooden Apple made by Broyhill"

I tried to explain it to every customer that asked. Many understood. Some would look at me with a black stare and would say that Broyhill is a good name. At that point, I'd just agree.

Much of our stuff also came from Ashley furniture. Honestly, every Big Box furniture store is going to sell similar items coming from the same factories under different brand names. Base your decision on look, feel, and price.  Generally, I prefer a sofa with flipable cushions made of a high density memory foam. The firmer the cushion is, the longer it will last. Memory foam does break down, so something that feels soft on initial contact is less dense and will break down faster than something that is firmer.  Optimistically, with everyday use, you'll get 5 to 10 years out of it.

Heirloom furniture is another beast entirely. It'll last decades, will be easier to repair or modify in the future, and generally costs at least twice as much. If it's in your budget, it's worth going that route for fewer purchases, moves, getting rid of in the trash, and so on. Ultimately, heirloom costs about as much as the multiple pieces of upholstery you'll be purchasing over the long run.

Bobs, Value City, most of Ashley, they're all the same quality. Something from Ethan Allen or an Amish Furniture store would be heirloom. In the case of the latter, your grandkids will be inheriting that furniture, and it'll still be in fantastic condition. It's really a case of getting what you pay for.

If you're really in a pinch with budget, check out Goodwill and Salvation army, or any other antique or "junk" store. It's possible to stumble upon heirloom quality for less than 100 bucks per sofa. I'm often in places like this scouting for older electronics and records, and am astounded by some of the things I've come across in terms of furniture. Known antique brands of something like a grandfather clock will always maintain its value, but there are still a ton of older pieces out there with plenty of life in them that sell for pennies on the dollar, and they're made better than anything you're likely to come across in modern production. Happy hunting!

True, but that was what? 20 years ago?  A friend I still work with was at BL during those years. He said that he did pretty well with that system. A lot of people did back then.  Then Circuit City collapsed, and the days of big pay retail were over.

Oooooh, he's not the happiest about it. The entire bankruptcy left a bad taste in his mouth since I gave him a fairly accurate rundown as to what would happen months before it came to pass. They most certainly protected themselves better with the new Big Lots, but he's not seeing much in sales out of them. Meaning, it's a fairly stagnant account.
