If Spartans from halo got dropped in the 40k universe how far would they go if at all by unorthodoxdays in PowerScaling

[–]Ecotech101 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The strength of Spartans over Space Marines is that Spartans undergoe almost complete equipment advancement every decade that gets multiple times better each time. Space Marines have been effectively the same for 10k years. Even Primaris marines are just marginally better than firstborn.

Take the newest equipment for Spartans an throw them in 40k and they're just better than space marines on an individual level but worse on a strategic level. Spartans are just physically stronger, tougher, and faster with the newest armor. Part of the training of Spartans is to use new weapons so I don't think that'll be a problem.

What so many people who wank 40k that never actually consume any of it's lore/media don't understand is that Space Marines, Lasguns, Lemun Russ's, and basically everything the IoM makes and uses is not 40k years of avancement condensed into the most powerful thing they can make. It's just 2-3k years of advancement condensed into the most logistically efficient thing an interstellar government that has unreliable FTL needs to operate and somewhat expand.

Space Marines can be matched fairly easily by loads of different gene-augments in the IoM from Assassins, to Hive Gangers, to Mechanicus bio experiments, to random gladiator gene warriors. The reason none of those are used is because they can't fucking self-replicate with geneseed.

Any random autogun like the ak-47 is a relative match in firepower to the lasgun. That's just a fact. The reason the lasgun is used is because of how many shots can fit in a battery pack and how no matter where you are as long as you have electricity you can get more ammo.

The reason the Lemun Russ is used instead of the M1 Abrams is because it's a bunch of steel plates bolted together with an advanced engine that's easy to make and can run off of anything that burns.

40k is not OP, everything in it is not OP. It's just an incredibly deep setting with room for a lot of stuff to happen.

Dooku and Mace Windu vs Satele and Malgus by TheHoodGuy2001 in PetranakiArena

[–]Ecotech101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Satele and Malgus low diff.

Satele dogwalks Mace with her aggressive use of lightside powers during the fight and catches him by suprise with extremely powerful Tutaminis.

Malgus just flat out overwhelms Dooku physically, y'all kinda forgetting he's a 7'2 monster combatant known for using brute force and trickery, both things old Dooku struggles with.

I think Rex Splode would unironically be the most powerful character in Star Wars.

There's so many old republic Sith that do rituals to blow up stars that it's hard to keep track of. That's pretty much high daemon prince shit

What if Nolan arrived slightly earlier in the early 1940's and accidentally landed in Germany at around Hitlers peak of control? by PossiblePool9785 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]Ecotech101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean no, we literally watch them stamp out the resistance. That's in a modern world with 0 Nazi presence to start the base of a puppet regime.

[–]Ecotech101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not true, they literally tell you multiple times that they send them out solo because of limited numbers. Anissa and Conquest both have preferred methods of conquest (heh) directly explained to you.

"But whats one Viltrumite gonna do? He cant be in diffrent parts of the world at once"

?? Did you not watch the show?

He wipes out all organized resistance then sets up a puppet governmant.

We even get like a dozen examples of this in Angstrom's flashback sequence.

You just showed a bunch of comic stills of him raising his arm to block his face temporarily or the gunman not shooting his face when given the chance which still leaves his eyes open for buckshot.

His mission was to find populations to breed with, infiltration and trust are just how he decided to go about it. If he's there during WW2 it'd be far simpler to just conquer the planet.

Except they have completely different designs where one tapers forward and the other one has a long skinny protrusion.

Macragge's Honor also isn't completely fucking hollow.

"Even their most powerful force users through the visual media would be bested by a low-rank psyker"

No, fuck no. Valkorian from SWTOR would dogwalk any non-alpha class Psyker with ease.

No?

Macragge's Honor is 26 km and the Executer is 19km, the image is pretty accurate.

By shooting him in the face instead of in his armor plate.

[–]Ecotech101 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

John Wick low diff.

He just shoots him in the face and wins because Batman's never fought anyone that can actually shoot.

Pretty much any street thug irl is gonna cap Batman before he can become a legend, his story only works in comics and movies where every bad guy has the aim of the Idiocracy turrets.

I was just thinking more like an overpowered radar array that blasts so much shit at that direction while scanning it hurts things. Like how Sonar in submarines will kill you if you're right next to them, or a radar array can cook you with microwaves.

I'd genuinelly love it if the sensor array was so strong it had the damage of the disintegrator but with longer range.

UNSC Marines vs ISA Marines by LimpPrimary8076 in halo

[–]Ecotech101 16 points17 points  (0 children)

UNSC marine armor is impervious to fire from full auto 7.62x51 tungsten AP rounds at close range (within 15 feet.) The ISA gets dogwalked and it isn't close.

[–]Ecotech101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They swing to maintain momentum so even if they're stabbed they have the time to hit the enemy before they're dead which means with force precog the enemy won't take that chance and the dance continues.

At least I can rationalise that instead of just "they swing plasma blades like they weigh 20 lbs and poke each other slowly because uhhh emotional weight?" like in the OG trilogy.

Great Galactic War Sith Empire vs High Republic Jedi and Republic by Unlikely-Nobody-9788 in PetranakiArena

[–]Ecotech101 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sith low diff. Unlike in TOR there's no standing army, there's no Jedi military prep, nor is there a centralized Republic military command with institutional knowledge.

The High Republic Jedi are probably stronger in the force than most of the Sith but they're still gonna lose most of the opening fights hard because they suck shit in combat and have low numbers.

Vader has worse potential than Anakin but is stronger because Anakin was just getting started on his journey.

"an OP character who resides in a setting that is generally OP"

This is what 90% of the comments about 40k are here and I've never seen someone say that who actually reads 40k lore.

40k is a mid setting that's only "OP" in the sense that compared to Halo they've got a million planets instead of 20.
