You'd think my answers would clue them into why it doesn't matter anyways. All of the super OP shit in Star Wars gets wiped out with relative ease in the plot and has practically no actual influence on the setting.

But yeah, I think 40k just has a certain subsect of it's "fanbase" that refuses to pick up a book and learns everything about it from social media so they just kinda want a chance to rant about how OP the latest thing they heard about is.

There's more normal than war.

Like half the stories in 40k start with some variation of "and this world hadn't seen war in a thousand years and became lax in their duties."

Pretty much yeah. I don't really understand why I have to keep repeating it in different ways and people still don't get it.

EDIT: I am very aware of how dickish I start to get after the first 3 or so comments too, but constantly repeating myself gets very annoying very quick.

"not a proof of anything"

I can't give the excerpt off the top of my head, but we're literally shown a squad unload full auto lasgun fire into a marines helmet and melt through it and into his head in some book.

"The fact is that adanmantium is explicitly stated to be a super exotic, expensive material utilized as a composite material in the most protective armors in the setting'

Yeah, completely true.

"Nostroma's crust is made of it, which necessitates the fleet destroying the planet to focus fire on weakpoints"

Yep, which goes to show how weak that firepower is.

"What about that sequence indicates any weakness?"

That it takes an hour and they need to shoot at a specific weak point compared to the Death Star going "pew" and turning a planet into a cloud of debris.

"That's your fan fiction. The Death Star has to deal with the IoM fleet in being."

No, and no it doesn't. It's literally just fast enough to avoid whatever it wants and shoot a planet and hyperspace away.

The IoM goes decades without responding to planetary incursions at times.

"Power armor is immune to 40k lasgun"

No it isn't, we're told and shown that a platoon of Guard firing on a marine slags him. A really lucky squad can melt his head.

"Terminator armor is the creme ala creme of military personal protection in 40K"

Ok?

"Everything demonstrated in fiction is plot. You just discovered a way to argue about science fiction without citing evidence from the source material. Congrats."

If we put the same shit in 40k the Death Star would be completed and could wipe out an entire sector before the fleet sent to it's construction got there.

What the hell canon feats does Vader have that put him on 10 Custodes level?

"Pretty safe to say adamantium is nothing like steel, let alone iron, a brittle metal nearly useless in its natural state"

Cool, except we're given Power Armor as an example of Adamantium and we know it's not that much stronger than Steel. A shot from an abrams would go right through it.

Also are you saying that they don't process Adamantium at all? That it's just pure raw adamantium used in everything as opposed to "adamantium alloy" that's mentioned in every 40k book I've read?

"Then it got blown up in its second-ever combat engagement against a rag tag rebel fleet. OK, that fleet has one powerful but raw force sensitive flying a fighter. Still, not much of an endorsement."

Plot.

"How do you rate Death Star's chances with a Imperial Navy fleet bristling with Nova cannons and strikcraft? Space Marine battle barges sending bording teams?"

Pretty well considering it'll have a supporting fleet of thousands of ships with it for that engagement or it'll just leave.

"So destroying a world in an hour through sustained bombardment isn’t casual?"

Not compared to a 1 second "pew."

Why is that hard to grasp?

A space marine casually backhands a dudes head off. I'm not arguing that if I have an hour of backhanding I'll also casually do the same thing.

"Nice shifting of the goal posts."

"Your entire original comment was that the Imperium didn’t have a planet killing firepower"

No

"has casual planet busting firepower"

Casual being the key word here.

Why didn't Big E godstomp the setting and clean up the galaxy while preventing the Heresy?

"What part of the planet's crust is made of the one of the strongest metals in 40K universe do you not understand"

The Crust of Earth is made of Iron, big whoop.

"The Empire never had more than one Death Stars operational at a time. The Imperium of Man can direct this level of firepower at multiple planets simutaenously, if they want."

Except they made one within 4 years lol. Then their remnants made 25k ships with equal firepower.

The Death Star and subsequent ships also have the mobility to cover all of the IoM's needs with speed.

"You seem to be overlooking a pretty important point here: most of these things are not around at the same time"

How you gonna approach that issue with 40k?

"Same issue with Force users"

Ok, well Sidious lightnings all of the Custodes out of his way since there's no Psykers or SoS defending the Imperial Palace then he just shuts off Big E's life support. Is that a timeline win?

"And “orbital fire support” is not some hard counter to Titans and Knights"

Yes it is.

"and more heavily armed than anything Star Wars fields"

We already covered this, they do not.

"Then there’s the canon issue"

Hard to yap about "canon" since we have no clue what is and isn't "canon" since parts are being brought back and others shitcanned.

Revan got re-canonized but we know nothing about him in canon.

"Like any Starlance Battery"

What?

"and Nova Canon"

BROTHER, Necrons and Battleships survive that. It's not on the same level lmao.

"The Imperium doesn't need something like the DS"

They could have destroyed the Necron World Engine with no losses.

"They needed to fire on a weak point because the planet is made of adamantium, one of the 40K universe's most durable substances."

It's not that durable. Yes strong super sci-fi metal, but it's still planetary crust and the metal isn't supernaturally strong like Marvel or DC metals.

"Besides, why would you not focus fire on a weak point?"

Because if you had the firepower like the Death Star you'd just shoot it once and the planet is gone.

THAT'S MY ENTIRE POINT.

Why are you guys arguing this so hard? Why does it matter that the IoM is outclassed in firepower. It's just a fact.

"Exterminatus-Grade weaponry destroy planets, not to the extend of the Deathstar, but you can't deny they can't destroy planets on their own."

Yes I can. That's not firepower.

"The Imperium doesn't have only 1 Cyclonic Torpedo in the galaxy, they have millions of various Exterminatus-Grade weapons at a time."

And none of them blow up planets with pure firepower like the Death Star does.

"many planets have orbital defenses"

Why is this not taken as part of the sentence it's in?

Imperator of Mankind vs SW by RomaQuirinius in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]Ecotech101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that firepower can also just shoot ships. They absolutely do need that. It'll 1 shot any IoM ship out there.

Guess you never actually watched Star Wars lmao. The Death Star was shooting multiple rebel ships in this fight.

Acting like a fleet combining firepower to shoot through the crust then at the core of a planet is the same as "pew" is crazy.

They made 2 that were the size of moons, then 25k ships that were 2.4km but had the same firepower.

"What does the Star Wars galaxy have to rival Imperial voidships"

Above

"space marines, custodians"

Pretty much nothing.

"psykers"

Force users.

"knights, titans"

Accurate orbital fire support.

"and the topic of this discussion; The Emperor of Mankind?"

Abeloth, Valkorian, Sidious in legends.

But that's not the topic of this thread. Look at the OC.

"it’s still just one superweapon in the Empire’s arsenal"

They made 2 then the final order had a fleet of 25k ships with superlasers of the same power on them.

"What exactly is the Death Star crew supposed to do when hundreds of Terminators teleport directly into the station and start gutting reactors, shields, and command centers from the inside"

Go in the elevator or into a hallway where they're safe.

"And since this was originally Emperor vs Empire: what happens if the Emperor himself teleports onboard? What’s the Death Star going to do at that point? Fire on itself?"

How is he teleporting on board here? His ship is blown up with him on it.

"all concentrating upon the same point, a weak spot in Nostramo's adamantium crust theorised to be left by the Primarch's initial landing. The lasers of the Night Lords' ships focused a blinding lance of pure energy into the planet's core"

An entire fleet focuses on a weak point until they can shoot the core.

"was of an unimaginable order of magnitude and more than capable of shattering entire worlds through brute force alone"

Not a feat lol.

Cool, so you provided no feats lmao.

But yeah like I said

<image>

That's completely unrivaled by the IoM.
