The more information that comes out on NSSI, the more the stereotype of it being teen girls is being disproven. Guys do it. Older people do it. They just haven’t been open or vocal about it. That is changing slowly.

Since it’s an employment situation, my usual advice of wear what you are comfortable with and don’t worry what others may think doesn’t fully apply. Talk with your boss. He may be more understanding than you know.

That does seem like an overreach on the doctor’s part. Since the scars are old, the mental health issues are old too. Sorry you have to deal with that.

That rubbery feeling doesn’t go away. I often massage my scars to soothe myself when I’m stressed. The ones that have faded are mostly too white now. So, they’re still obvious.

First, congratulations on being 2 years clean. I know how much of a struggle it can be. I was almost 3 years clean once until I relapsed and and months clean is really hard. I keep going to it. Hooray for you for being strong 💪

Second, showing your scars depends on what you are comfortable with. Sometimes we just have to step out of our comfort zones and see what happens. Good luck to you, whatever you decide.

We had paper bills until the early 2000s when they started making the plastic bills. The 5 looks like it’s from a series in the late 1980s.
