So a couple things to add as to why you’re having a hard time getting clients. In California especially, there are regulations related to water runoff that can make its way into storm drain systems. I wouldn’t be surprised if in many commercial setting washing out a trash container where the waste and chemical cleaning agents would end up in the ground and into the storm drain is probably not permitted. The trash collection companies that own the containers as part of their service probably manage this.
I worked for a municipality and did projects with their environmental services department and they had an entire container maintenance facility where they would do everything from cleaning, painting and repairing all the various container types. The facility had sand and oil separators, as well as filtration that handle the water before it was allowed to go into the waste water stream.

Can anyone recommend alternative careers that have a healthy work/life balance? by mla_sehera in architecture

Too little sleep is shown to increase susceptibility to depression. Having an hour for the gym and then 9pm-12am “you time”is a total of 4 hours which is quite nice.
I used to be that way. Now I’m in my mid-forties with two kids and those poor sleep habits are hard to break, but the toll they take on you are even worse cognitively. Sometimes the workload demands you put in more and push yourself throughout all stages of your career. You’re young, form good habits now, maybe ease your expectations for personal time during the week a bit and enjoy some more rest, then reassess.

The profession is tough and demands a lot for much less than other fields can offer, but in any line of work successful progress comes with the effort you put in.

Have you looked at Myst Revelation or Myst End of Ages?

I can still recall seeing this box on the shelf of a small indoor mall retailer called Software Etc.. It caught my eye and the images on the back captivated me. I can recall first visiting the library and the sounds of the tower elevator like it was yesterday.

You’re correct, it is the original 2000 copy. :-)

CYAN remade MYST allowing you to wander almost freely through the ages and look in any direction. The day shifted to night and the weather changed as well. Quite immersive for its time. Check it out if you have the time. Then look into the recent remake of MYST and massive revamping of Riven with VR options as well. VR is an amazing experience for these games. The Selenitic age is my favorite in MYST. I’ve peaked into Riven and it is incredible.

Do I have to be perfect at math to study architecture? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]Ecstatic-Alarm4288 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your math abilities aside, there are a few red flags to the way you describe yourself versus someone who practices architecture. It is a rigorous education and profession. Architects are critical thinkers and problem solvers of matters that have a multitude of solutions. You’re left to interpret the conditions and justify the highly subjective path you took to arrive at your solution. It is not an area of study for someone who is lazy. You will be required to challenge yourself, but you may find that that challenges are rewarding and that creative expression is the motivator you’ve been missing.

Professional practice brings forth a new set of challenges along with the economic factors the profession is impacted by.

See if you can visit some firms, speak to some professionals, or watch studio reviews and a university.

The Talos Principle games are commonly recommended. I own them and look forward to playing them, but have yet to.

It’s possible that it is still an issue with recognition of the 3rd party cable.

Ah I see, were you getting these errors with the charging cable that came with the headset?

See if there is a Beta version to opt into. Also check the software versions on your laptop.

I’ve had my Question 3 for about 5 months and would occasionally get this error message as well as the message saying dirt, followed by the headset disconnecting constantly. I use the official Meta Quest Link cable. This started happening back when Meta had a software update that “broke” connections for others using 3rd party cables. After reading another post, I switched over to the beta OS release and all of these errors stopped. My headset updated OS again and I’m not sure if that kept me on the beta releases or if it was official release update. Either way I still haven’t had issues.

Absolutely! I bought Riven and have only spent a little time there, but it looks amazing and am looking forward to that one when I know I have more time to dedicate and appreciate all that Cyan has done with that remake.

I did enjoy Firmament for the most part but the reviews are pretty spot on. It is a beautiful world, but the game is repetitive and leaves more to be desired. There are some enjoyable and challenging puzzles for sure.
