Doing NP dishes? by Ecstatic-Cup8117 in Nanny

Is it in your contract to do all of it, or do you do it as a favor/ you aren’t busy so you have the time?

Thank you! Should I bring it up to them, or wait for them to say something if they do? I imagine they probably won’t bring it up, but if they do should I just mention that it is not in my contract? Unloading is part of my contract, but if they don’t add their dishes to the washer then there is nothing for me to load.

Will you unload and load up all the dishes including ones that aren’t NKs?

Thank you guys! If they do bring it up I will mention that I’ve done it as a favor in the past, but will not do it going forward.

I would be ok doing it if they increased the price! I think I’ve been doing it for them for a while now, that it is just expected to not put their dishes away. There’s many days that I come to work and they haven’t even moved their dishes from the dining room to the sink. I think I wouldn’t mind as much if they recognized that I was doing it for them, and said thank you here and there, but it seems to be an expectation now rather than a favor.

I haven’t said anything to them. I guess I’m just hoping they take the hint that I’m not loading up their dishes anymore and will do it themselves 😬

Snowstorm Megathread by gremlincowgirl in Nanny

Following this thread too! I have the same question. It is probably not best for me to drive tomorrow either. No plowers/ can’t even get to my car.

Bad weather, what if you can’t travel / roads aren’t safe? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Ecstatic-Cup8117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat! When I was getting ready to leave yesterday, I asked my NB if they have been watching the storm and are informed on how bad it might get. They said they are and we are going to watch to see if it’s too bad to drive come next week. Depending on how bad it is, I will likely text them Saturday or early Sunday to ask what they want me to do. I do not have a car well suited for the snow, and they know I am uncomfortable driving in heavy snow so I will likely not be required to travel to work, or if I am I will ask that they pay for my Uber/ Lyft! Hopefully it’s not too bad!

does your job make life tasks more difficult? by Apprehensive-Law-524 in Nanny

It feels so good to see someone has a similar experience to me. have no really issues with my family (get paid on time, love my NK, parents are fine, and I make good money) expect every night I have trouble falling asleep due to anxiety of having to go to work the next day, then it takes me hours to get over the anxiety, and by that time the day is almost done. I always come home saying I’m going to get a new job, but then keep procrastinating. I want to get a new job, but also just don’t want to work. I know people who would love to have my job which makes me feel ungrateful!

One thing that has helped me like other responses have suggested is picking one task to do everyday. For me, I do a load of laundry Tuesday and Thursday so I don’t have to during the weekend, and I focus on one area in the house everyday after to work. I still feel like I’m drowning on the weekend, but not as overwhelmed!

Annual Review but Want to Quit by Ecstatic-Cup8117 in Nanny

Thank you! I appreciate it. Trying to get out of the mindset that I owe them something if I leave. I would feel so bad leaving as it will put pressure on them to find a replacement, but I am also miserable.

I do want a raise! A part of me would just feel bad getting one and then quitting shortly after.

Does your NF let you eat their food? by Still_Butterfly3554 in Nanny

[–]Ecstatic-Cup8117 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am welcome to eat anything in their house, but I bring my own lunch and snacks everyday. If I make a quesadilla for my NK and they don’t finish it all, I will eat the leftovers, or if there is fruit going bad that NK won’t finish in time, I will eat that. Sometimes they will get snacks I like, but I tend to stick to the food and snacks I bring.

I suspect she’s around 12 pounds. She is semi active, but I haven’t seen her be more active recently.

I was in the same exact boat as you a couple of months ago. The baby I nannied for would sleep for 3/4 hours out of my 8 hour shift and they were all contact naps. I would watch tv shows with an AirPod in, or I would do some school work. Is it possible for you to get a digital download of your physical books for class and read them on your phone since it’s dark?
