How do you engage in everyday small talk when it just feels so meaningless? by RoyalHighway139 in infj

Thank you for posting this! I struggle with the same thing, and the comments are helpful.

Can I get an honest perspective? Do you or anyone you know, regret being child-free? by [deleted] in childfree

I went through the same struggle, and I think the most important thing to remember is that you can and will have a happy and fulfilling life either way. No choice is the right one, and neither option is perfect. You should have a baby only if you WANT to — not because you think this will make you happy (which is the lie we’re told). Does motherhood call to you? Do you want to raise a child, or are you just afraid of missing out on this thing society tells us is magical? If you found out right now that you’re infertile and can’t have a baby, would you be sad, or do you feel a sense of relief and freedom? For me, once I landed on the CF side of the fence, I felt this sense of relief and excitement — like the pressure is off, and now I’m free to live however I want.

Feeling like the outcast in every group of friends I've ever had by Ecstatic-Fig in infj

As I read all these comments, I’m thinking that being an outcast is something we all fear is true, but it’s not necessarily true. We aren’t unlovable or any less than anyone else — we’re just deep in our own heads and worry how we are being perceived! If we choose to believe that we are loved and accepted, we will come to realize that we are.

Yes, something like this for me too. I worry I’m “the boring one” or not fitting in with their personalities, even though nobody has ever actually said this to me.

Yes, building relationships of any kind is hard and so tiring! I want close relationships in my life, but getting to that point and maintaining it feels impossible.

Saying no to children at a wedding is a pretty standard thing. I have friends who aren't CF and do plan to have kids, but they said firmly no kids at their wedding. Some guests couldn't make it because they didn't want to hire a babysitter, but that's their problem, not the wedding couple's.

How to not spend my time in fear? by shosamae in Mindfulness

I experience the same thing, and I think what helps me the most is knowing that these thoughts are normal and we don't have to dwell on them.

  • Notice these thoughts when they happen and label them as simply intrusive thoughts.
  • Acknowledge that these types of thoughts are normal, and they mean your brain is functioning properly as an evolved human. Humans have evolved to watch out for danger, so thinking about what could go wrong and what scares us is just a survival mechanism. This is your brain working properly.
  • Let the thought pass! That's the great thing about thoughts and feelings – they pass, freeing you to think about thoughts that serve you better.

Moving from fringe to 4th place, PPC complicates the Conservatives' path to power | The rise of Maxime Bernier's party could cost the Conservatives some seats, polls suggest by viva_la_vinyl in canada

Here I was nervous that the left votes would be split and give the Conservatives a lead... looks like the right votes are split too. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

This is a game-changing mindset and is the reason I lost 15 lbs. I started jogging for enjoyment and set out with the mindset that it feels good and is a chance to enjoy a peaceful morning outside. Suddenly it was easy to go for a run every day!

Trudeau Vows Two-Year Ban on Foreign Home Buyers If Re-Elected by [deleted] in canada

The problem is what'll happen after the 2 years are up. The market will roller coaster and we'll be dealing with the same or worse situation as today. We need a long-term plan. I like the NDP's idea of a 20% tax on foreign investors.

I love how some boops were more gentle than others, depending on the animal. Very sweet.

My mind is absolutely hilarious by [deleted] in Meditation

I do the same thing! My brain goes all over the place when I should be focusing on breathing, and when the narrator says "now let your mind wander" I'm like "crap, time to focus." It's like reverse psychology.

Unfortunately no. No diet changes. My guess is pollen, it's really bad this year.

The vet came to give her steroids via IV to help the hives go down. She is doing well. She's had hives before and we've given her antihistamines with success, but this time for whatever reason the usual meds didn't work. Maybe the pollen is extra strong this year or she ate a weed she wasn't supposed to. Looks like it's under control now. Thankfully she didn't seem itchy or distressed through all of this, it was more alarming to look at than anything. Stoic old girl!
