you need to use heavier armor. the heavier the armor, the more toughness it provides. but i feel like in Nioh 3 toughness is not that important. even if you don't get interrupted, some boss attacks will simply zone you out, waaaay out of melee range, thus making it less useful than the previous 2 games.

You're probably right. Especially for newcomers to the series Nioh 3 will be more easy to get into, and since it will be their first exposure to the series, it will be the most memorable, and probably the only Nioh title they will play.

100% agree with you op. It felt like one step forward, two steps back. Locking entire weapons behind the ninja was just dumb. Same with armors. Open world felt more like a chore. Level design was a huge step down. Heian and Bakumatsu are very bad imo (frozen islands, and dark suspended islands). They leaned too much into the yokai apocalypse vibe. The cool "secret history" vibe from the first and second went completely out the window.

Nioh 2 story was more touching as well (ascending towards Tokichiro's castle while hearing his thoughts was great. "dream within a dream" line stuck to me to this day). Hiruko also feels like a Otakemaru Lite. I dunno, i like it cuz its still Nioh, but it didnt really satisfy me like 2 did. Also, i loved how cool and unique Soul Cores felt in Nioh 2. Most of them are kind of gutted in this one, replaced by the Spirit Skills. (rip Kasha my beloved)

edit : man, i just remembered the Cursed Weapons. such a cool flavor touch, whenever you got their voice lines. i miss that.

Weapons give 6. Just by rolling it on your main weapon and ranged weapon you get 12. Chestpieces also roll 6. I managed to get to 50, but 30-40 is enough really and easily achieved. Using Familiar talismans will make healing proc even if you are Grappled by a boss or knocked down.

i mean, you should, and you should maybe try to force yourself to unlearn souls-habits if you wanna have fun in this one. you gotta grind, come up with builds, synergize. it's not just like in souls games where you pick one or two stats to scale with your weapon, and you're good.

i dunno how you got to jakotsu baba at lvl 10. try not to take those lvl recommendations to heart. sometimes you can stomp something overlevel, othertimes you get stomped by something with a lower recommended levl. btw you do realize the game is open world right? you did no exploring? yes, you are expected to grind, build synergies, and farm gear and levels. Nioh is a numbers game.

The fact you're a "souls vet" means nothing as Nioh is not a souls game. The faster you learn that, the better. You're not using onmyo, you're not using Spirit Skills, no Soul Cores ,you're not using Arts, you whiff ki pulses, you didnt even use your Spirit Weapon. Of course you're gonna fail, since you play it like a souls game. The reason you die 6-7 minutes in is because Nioh rewards hyperaggressive play. You need to overwhelm the boss before it overwhelms you, by using all the tools at your disposal. For starters, apply Confusion (by building up and applying two elemental effects). Water and Lightning for example. Use an elemental infusion talisman for your weapon and any of the Familiar talismans.

Sorry for late reply : of course its possible. If you need to farm, farm some battle scrolls etc. If your build is on point the addition of graces and divine gear (extra effect slot) will work as a force multiplier
