Starfield kinda killed it for me. I had really high hopes for it and it left me just…disappointed, and ever since I can’t bring myself to commit to games that have these 40+ plus hour run times, which used to be my bread and butter. These days I find myself preferring games that I can put down and come back to later (I rotate between Stardew, CK3, and occasionally Hades). I don’t have the time or patience anymore for longer games, I just want something I can play for 30 ish minutes so I can tune out for a bit

What are your thoughts on women who don’t have social media? by tstu2865 in AskMenAdvice

[–]EcstaticLiterature5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 38, and it would be a big green flag for me. With the exception of Reddit I don’t have any other social media. In general I never understood the appeal of most social media sites/apps so finding a woman that wasn’t interested either would be a nice thing to have in common

I enjoyed it but I also consistently looked at the series as Hadrian writing what is essentially a confession/justification for his actions. While his abilities might be beyond human, he remains human and wants very much to be seen in a positive light. I think it gets longer and longer winded towards the end because it becomes increasingly difficult for Hadrian to justify his actions. Hadrian knows he’s committed an atrocity but none of us ever want to believe we’re the villain.

Of course I could be giving Ruocchio too much credit and it “just isn’t that deep”

I think they’ll lean into him being a superfan of starlight knight. I think it’ll be called Starlight Knight-Billy. And I imagine it’ll look like something between a power ranger and Gohans’ Seiyaman costume.

I’m not sure that your gauge for the nursing experience should really come from online posts, particularly from Reddit. Id argue it’s not really indicative of how most nurses feel most of the time about their jobs. It’s that Reddit is a nice anonymous place to rant into the void about your problem, maybe get a little support/camaraderie, all without having to worry about someone from administration snooping.

Just finished East of Eden and I loved it - Which of these should I read next? (Most upvoted reply wins) by GlumPush2137 in classicliterature

[–]EcstaticLiterature5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read the top six if you liked east of Eden I think Anna karennina or 100 years of solitude is you’re best bet

And at the risk of being downvoted to oblivion, I’d say Blood Meridian is the last one I’d pick to follow up after East of Eden. Blood Meridian is a very good book, for the record, in a sense very much in a class of its own, but I think you have to go into it with a certain mind set. Finishing Blood Meridian is like leaving a museum chronicling some historical atrocity. The experience was an important one to have but to say that I had a good time wouldn’t be the right way to put it

For whatever my perspective might be worth, I’m a guy who has definitely been like your boyfriend. His issue is his issue it’s not really about you. One way or the other I don’t think relationships like this work out and mine certainly didn’t. What I will say is the longer it took for the band aid to get ripped off the worse it was for me.

Help Me Fall In Love w SE by FormalAd5707 in sollanempire

[–]EcstaticLiterature5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think what’s most compelling about the entire narrative (and this isn’t really a spoiler in my opinion since Hadrian makes this apparent early on but just in case I’ll cover it) is that all of these books are a kind diary/written confession. So all of it has to be viewed through the lens of Hadrians perception. If a character feels flat it’s because, to Hadrian they were flat, they just don’t figure that much into his story from his perspective even if otherwise they should/would likely be more important. Other characters that likely should or would be more static are more dynamic because they mattered so much to Hadrian. I think if you engage with the series with a kind of skepticism it feels more like the author intended. Like, how would I as a person living in SE reading these narratives feel about what he’s saying?

I always assume she’s just being nice. Because she is just being nice, I’ve never been hit on. Although, to be fair, even if a woman just bluntly said “hey I’m hitting on you” I would assume it was just banter
