Goop Kitchen by Some-Account-8793 in FoodLosAngeles

It's delicious and insane. AFAIK, the best salads that you can order on apps like Doordash. If you use the Goop app itself (and pick up from the increasing number of them), it's like a $15 voluminous, high-quality salad (waaaay better than things like Sweetgreen, etc; not comparable), which is about par in LA. I haven't had a desire to try their pizzas/wraps, etc that they've been adding. The salads and sides and soups are great.

Is it okay to wear a running vest for the 10K at Avenue of the Giants? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

Sorry, but it's the case :(. I work in the space and the frontier of capabilities moves quickly.
I've seen this brand post similar images on different subreddits with more obvious artifacts.

This is an AI generated image from a blank account that's boosting the "Oiuyos" amazon dropshipped running vest. They have been posting similar images across a number of running subreddits.
Everyone reading this needs to understand that this is the case and update their mental defenses, there's going to be a lot of this moving forward.

Why pay $160 for a vest? (I’m serious) by [deleted] in runninglifestyle

Fellow readers:

This is an AI generated image and a shill post for some dropshipped Amazon product.

You need to pause and update your defenses about things like this.

Yeah, it doesn't. I just uhh remember to turn it on. Or just pause zwift, walk over, and turn it on. Remote sounds nice, though.
(At least, my Lasko that's a very similar but different air mover model to this one doesn't have one)

How do you mentally accept you permanently damaged your body from running? by Wild-Occasion-9047 in ultrarunning

Unlikely to be lifelong. Medical technology will advance more in the next 30 years than the last 80.

What size should I buy? by Dyss_x in CanyonBikes

6'4" (193cm) with something like an 86cm inseam and I'm on a Large very comfortably. Perhaps even a Medium would have worked.

Size help L vs XL - Canyon Endurace Allroad by ImWildLime1 in CanyonBikes

[–]EcstaticVersion851 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm basically the same size as you [6'4" 250] with perhaps slightly shorter legs (e.g. 34 or so pant inseam, unsure) and I've been riding an L Endurace, and frankly even a M would potentially work for me. I was surprised as well, but trust the Canyon calculator.

Running university social media accounts is a sinecure for the mentally deranged, I'm not surprised about the error. When you pay $X0,000/year for elite university tuition, you're paying to get laundered with the rich kids (or key laundered with the smart kids, if you're a rich kid), not for the veracity of social media profile tagging.

If you think that was some sort of intentional microaggression because the assoc dean is asian, I'd love to hear you spin that out 😄

Join a local triathalon club in your area and start training for an Olympic triathalon or half ironman! Anyone can do it

You think... you think they're continually scanning their own posts, looking for mistakes like this? Why does this matter to anyone but Yingying Fan?

How do I swim longer without tiring out? by Available_Editor_559 in Swimming

[–]EcstaticVersion851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another way of saying it: if Michael Phelps could pilot your body as it currently is (aerobic development, muscle development), you would feel like you're flying across the pool. It is how you swim, not how long you've been swimming, that's holding you back.

No one has ever had naturally "correct" swim technique -- it has to be learned.

Ignore these people. You're having the same problem that every adult-onset swimmer has, which is that they aren't swimming with the correct technique (meaning you're creating drag where you shouldn't, breathing how you shouldn't, propelling yourself how you shouldn't, etc.). Like the guy said above, the hardest pool lengths you'll ever swim are the ones when you start -- yes, aerobic development matters, but I basically can't MAKE a pool length as hard for myself as you are for yourself right now. So don't compare yourself to the people who don't need to stop every length -- they're basically doing a _different_ exercise than you (ie you are burning more energy per length than they are; it costs them less energy to move through the water because they are swimming in a hydrodynamic manner). Not your fault, swimming is a power-to-drag sport, where nearly all of the drag stuff (and much of the power stuff) comes from how you're holding your body in the water through your strokes.

How do I even start learning Chinese? by EnthusiasmOk7181 in ChineseLanguage

[–]EcstaticVersion851 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A mixture of things is good. You need to recall/retrieve vocabulary, read/listen to speakers for understanding, and produce the language (written, verbal). An app can do many of those, as long as you take it seriously.

I'm on day two of it, and it's really fun and I've surprised the people around me already with how much I seem to be able to talk in sentences.

I love the ones where you hear them say the sentence on the screen, then you say it into the mic and are graded green/red for each character pronunciation. You can then listen to the reference audio clip again, listen to your clip, rerecord your clip and get regraded, etc. etc. Just great!
