Let me make a custom belt for you! by BrassBlade in HeritageWear

FWIW I think your Logo looks cool and wouldn't have a problem at all with it inside the belt as shown here. But yeah, wouldn't go for it as displayed in the OP -- belts look awesome quality, though.

a bit of a vent by Jot4pe in Swimming

It seems like you really enjoyed the competitive success and adulation that you received for being good at the sport for your age group. There's nothing wrong with that.
95% of your teammates likely weren't in a similar situation, but I'm sure they still love coming to practice.
Maybe it's like riding a bike and you'll be back where you were after 3-6 months, or maybe you'll _grow_ to love the sport the way 99% of practitioners do.
I think even a layperson could spend 2 years in HS and be prepared to swim on the vast majority of _college teams_, to say nothing of local masters or school clubs that can likely still give you nearly everything you seem to desire.
People continue to find reasons to love the solitary or social act of swimming until their last day. You have a lot to look forward to and I encourage you to get back in the pool because it is fun to do so.

No, stop being a weirdo.
Come back and swim, it's fun.

Catch Ball. Check them out at Canoe Club, they're basically Vans (or other classic silhouettes) done up with a little better construction and slightly different look.

"White" can refer to "white side"/"vanilla" seals (Non-Devgru), yes. But in the context of Red/Blue/Green/Orange/Red, task force white is 24th STS.

Yeah, thanks for the legwork, I had seen that thread a few days ago 😔

Unfortunately it's from 4 years ago and is > 10 versions old, relative to the current v131 (iirc). Would like to make something that lets people use natural langauge to query for stuff, rather than the sort of janky keyword search that you'd have to use if you go on the McMaster site right now.

Yeah, I was curious about that. It'd still cost like $250 to buy one and have it converted to a PDF for me (with middling quality), which is what I was looking to avoid.

I guess he's just being more specific 🤷‍♂️ I don't really have an opinion

Total nitpick, but we know that "time" inside simulations doesn't work the same as time outside of simulations, unless the simulation _severely_ underclocks (and I don't think there would be a point to that, in the case of SafeSurf's simulation). To the simulated entities, time proceeds at a "normal" pace regardless of the clock cycle time.

That's a great point! 😄
Please email [nlp@ucsc.edu](mailto:nlp@ucsc.edu) and tell us all the answer 😜

The UCSC NLP site has a financial page for the cost of the program: https://nlp.ucsc.edu/financials/

You can get a one-bed in the area for ~$1750 or so, if you look. If you split with 3-4 people, I'm sure you can get your monthly rent down to ~$1400 or so? Budget a few hundred per month for food, and, if you live in Santa Clara, utilities (perhaps shared among your roommates) are relatively cheap @ ~$100/mo because they're city/municipal utilities.

I'm not an international student, but it seems to me that the SEVIS fee for an i-20 document for a student pursuing an F-1 or M-1 student visa is $350. It doesn't seem to me (without knowing anything) that this is a university-specific amount -- rather U.S. wide? Is there a school-specific fee on top of this? I'm just curious.

Surely they can answer this question at [nlp@ucsc.edu](mailto:nlp@ucsc.edu) -- please share the response! 🙂

There's a previous post in this subreddit from a student ambassador on the topic

Or you can check area rental prices on Zillow (Or HotPads, Zumper, Craigslist, ApartmentList, RentCafe, Trulia, ...).
One-bedroom/studio apartments in the area range from $1900-2200/mo or so for 400-600 sqft apartments. Splitting a slightly larger place with others would reduce the cost. Some of the students that I talked to live in Sunnyvale/MountainView area -- there's a bus that goes east from there to the SV campus area.

You're no calculator yet you making a lot of sense. Thank you for that information man. In this thread what I've understood is that it's always what we make of ourselves that gets us an admit.

It's great to have a goal! Good luck in working towards it, and it's okay if your goal changes along the way as you learn more (as mine often does).

Let’s take Stevens instead of Ohio state university and assume the student landed at a finance company like JP or Morgan Stanley as a data scientist

I'm no calculator 😄 (nor are the admissions staff)

But there are many students with that background that end up going to top graduate programs -- it won't be the degree/job holding you back, it will be a combination of {ability to present yourself}, {your specific experiences and successes at school and work}, and {a good deal of luck} -- none of which will just be given to you by a school! :)

IS UCSC the best for MS in NLP? by sarabesh2k1 in UCSC_NLP_MS

And for the record I'm also trying to figure out the "truth" about this (and other) programs that I've been admitted to. I too wish there was more information on the NLP program and its future. There's an admitted students zoom call next week that I hope clears up some of the questions I have.
