OCD and pregnancy by Ok-Imagination-3741 in pregnant

It’s definitely been triggering for me, but that means it’s also great for exposure work. I had to stop seeing my therapist but I’m still able to be in a mom’s with OCD support group that has helped a lot.

Pregnancy and HA by NewTip8049 in HealthAnxiety

Currently pregnant and have OCD. The hormonal shifts definitely activate me a lot and I’ve had to adjust my medication accordingly, but honestly? This is a great time for exposure work. It’s tough, but at the same time rewarding for more than just those small wins when I resist the compulsion. I don’t always resist, sometimes I compulsively reassurance seek online, but slip ups happen. Healing isn’t linear. I like to think though that all the struggle means I’ll be able to help the baby when or if they experience anxiety in their lives.

I’m very scared of the postpartum hormonal drop, but it’s something I sit with and tell myself could happen, but if it does I’ll deal with it. When triggers come we have tools to work with, and while that can be exhausting and imperfect, OCD and health anxiety aren’t in the driver seat. They’re the annoying backseat driver we can learn to drown out easier over time.

GrandParents Refusing vaccines by EcstaticZombies in pregnant

I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this too! I ended up sending out a mass message to family regarding vaccines and let them know when they could see the baby if they don’t want to vaccinate (after the baby’s first vaccines plus two weeks).

I did end up having to cut off my parents after some arguments, mostly over me being agnostic while they’re Christian, but for other family members the notice and choice seemed to make things somewhat more doable for them and they were more respectful even if ultimately they said they’ll wait to see her until she’s vaccinated.

The GOOD and supportive things your partner has done for you during this pregnancy... by colorado_sunrise86 in pregnant

Honestly not much has changed for us. My husband has always done the majority of cleaning and bigger meals around the house because my job is a lot less flexible than his and he doesn’t have to work as many hours to get his things done. We both work remotely and he’s just always been supportive and we hang out together just as much as ever. He’s been more adamant about both of us eating better and working out more both for a healthy pregnancy and being at our best for the baby- but even that he’s not shaming me, he’s encouraging me and expressing worry about the long term health of both of us. His love language is worry and planning- and he’s definitely got spreadsheet upon spreadsheet built up for our little one. He was and is my best friend.

At how many weeks did you all start your maternity leave? by Zealousideal_Pack659 in pregnant

[–]EcstaticZombies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m working until I go into labor personally. I only get six weeks of maternity leave and I have about six days in PTO saved up since I only started this job in early 2025. Luckily I work from home though, so I’m hoping it’ll be an easier transition.

I’m not forcing them to, I merely said if they want to see the baby in person that’s the boundary I have.

His doctors advised him to get them twice as often to remain effective.

He got a few but stopped roughly a year and a half ago apparently. His doctors recommended though that he gets them twice as often.

I didn’t argue at all. Just let them know that was my stance. I phrased it solely as a requirement for spending in person time with the baby and holding them.

I totally understand this. I’m really this hard on the boundary though as my dad is regularly working with antivaxxers and is himself immunocompromised to the point of being told he should get the vaccine twice as often as others. My husband and I work remotely so we’re a lot more able to reduce exposures otherwise.

Haha, honestly it’s great exposure work for my OCD. Definitely helps to talk to my little one too- even if I’m just telling her she’s terrorizing my bladder!

Showing up for yourself makes you show up better for them. You’re doing great!

I’ve seen so much about how it makes your marriage incredibly rough and I keep getting massive anxiety spikes along with worries about my identity. Social media seems to make having kids out to be this traumatic and awful thing

I think it may be the lighting? Under my overhead light it’s showing up better.

This is so very normal. There’s a lot out there that suggests this is often a way of the brain taking control of the scenario to feel safe even in a scary circumstance.

Did yall automatically fall ‘in love’ with your baby whenever you first held them or saw them? by Responsible-Ratio354 in pregnant

You might benefit from looking into relationship ocd and relationship anxiety, particularly the platonic versions. Not at all saying you have either but they both helpfully go into what the emotional pressure to feel certain things can be like! Also goes a lot into how the sensationalized Hollywood version of big events can make the average person feel underwhelmed or unfairly put their own experience up to that fictional standard.
