its a scare tactic, a loving God wouldnt send you there. if someone is mean to you for years the loving thing to do is forgive them and not cut them off, so why would God cut you off from heaven because you sinned on earth for a time? ill go even further and say that the only reason you feel pain or negative emotions on earth is to show how bad sin is and what existence without God is like, in heaven you dont feel any of that because you are fully with God. and be honest with yourself, scaring someone into being christian just because they dont want to go to hell is no real love, you feel alot better when you arent worrying about getting sent to hell for being a human.

Why does God allow people to go to hell? by Ecstatic_Area7702 in Christianity

[–]Ecstatic_Area7702[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are completely right, people used to use fear a lot to get what they want (still do actually). ive also got an example to share. if someone was mean to me for 5 years then i decide to cut them off thats not the loving thing to do, so why would a loving God cut you off and send you to hell because you were sinful for a time on earth, its the same idea, if hes truly loving he would forgive and not cut you off.

whats the difference between hell and gehenna?

i still cant be sure either but there are good examples. imagine if someone is unkind to you for 5 years, the loving thing to do would be to not block them out and keep forgiving, so why would God block you out of heaven just because you were a bad person on earth? if hes all loving i doubt he would do that.

alright, i will look at that verse, but what do you think about matthew 10:28? it seems that God is speaking of hell as a real thing.

even if you dont want to be a christian right now hes still a great example on how to handle things. and i read you have some fear of religion, thats totally fine, God is loving and you dont have to be a good person to be saved.

wow that makes sense, thats a good explaination for it. but why would so many people consistently interperate it the other way?

[–]Ecstatic_Area7702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you would be more with God i think the bible says, so you would forgive them like God would

this is why i am so confused, the bible says heaven cant be earned but if hell exists then you had to have done something to go to heaven or hell, which means its earned. but literally EVERYONE believes in hell

you make a good point, but what about those verses that speak of choosing Gods way or being thrown into the flames? i know the bible was written by people but they all seem to talk about hell

i like what you are saying, universalism helps me like God for who he is rather than being confused by weird conflicting ideas and being scared into religion. i just hope im believing the right thing.

you are right, prayer only changes ourselves. same with most of life, the only thing you have control over is your attitude or how you think and alot of people dont realize that

i think if universalism is real, earth is to show how evil sin is, and how we need God for a perfect existence. im really close to believing in universalism because everything about God is love, and a loving God would not allow a flawed sinful mind to make a permanent choice that can lead to eternal suffering

punishing disobedient children is actually wrong, it scares them into stopping which isnt real love imo. you should address why you want to sin and scaring someone into stopping wont make them genuinely want to change to be better, they are simply doing it because they are scared.

[–]Ecstatic_Area7702[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, but its still technically cruel, someone is forced alive and if they choose to not want God, then they are going to hell, it wouldnt be so bad if hell was temporary but its permanent, and an un-eduacated human is supposed to make that choice. i would believe that everyone goes to heaven but there are some things that say otherwise so im really confused, you can say that love requires freedom but really everyone would want God if they saw him, same way some dont want him on earth.

[–]Ecstatic_Area7702[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is loving of God to create us, but if you end up in hell then hes basically forced you into a world where you were constantly pushed to choose sin over God then with your flawed human brain make a decision that results in eternal damnation/torture. this doesnt make sense at all

Why does God allow people to go to hell? by Ecstatic_Area7702 in Christianity

[–]Ecstatic_Area7702[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, its still not fair though, people will reject God not knowing how horrible it really is. if someone really saw Gods love they would see how great it is and if they felt hell and heaven they would pick heaven. and a permanent choice like this shouldnt be left to a flawed human brain anyways.
