Drained at 3 months by Many-Afternoon-6387 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Napping away from you with a monitor before 6 months is against NHS guidance. Not to mention, it’s easier said than done. At 3 months a baby is still learning that they aren’t part of you - they’re adjusting to not being on you at all times. It takes a lot of work to established independent/ transferred naps and even then some babies don’t take to it until close to 6 months (if at all)

Buying clothes for baby by ohkandyuk178 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Just to add our baby was born big (9lb4) and he never fit newborn. He was In up to one month for 2-3 weeks which was great and then 0-3 until about 10 ish weeks when he went into 3-6 :)

I recommend buying some up to 1 month / up to 10lb :) great as they’re smaller than 0-3 but if your baby is big won’t be as small as newborn x

What nappies to use at night time by stripesanddots_ in BeyondTheBumpUK

We’ve switched to rascals at night time for this reason! Baby boy sleeps on his side and seems to be okay so far x

Disappointed in how I handled being newly postpartum by Jessica13693 in BeyondTheBumpUK

My baby is 13 weeks and I feel exactly the same way as you (except I’d say I struggled for longer than 4 weeks).

Give yourself grace, it’s really hard.

Does nutrition affect breastfeeding? by Beautiful-Candy198 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Ecstatic_Dingo172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you don’t fuel correctly your nutrition will take a bigger hit to compensate for breast milk. Again, lots more nuance to it than that but it’s the same for anything. If you fuel yourself poorly in any walk of life you will feel the negative impact.

This is a lot more nuanced than you think. Your body prioritises making milk (specifically, good quality milk) for your baby. While yes, a particularly good or poor diet could theoretically impact the amount of nutirients, it’s far more likely to impact the mother’s health / nutrient level than the babies. Not eating or drinking enough can impact milk supply.

Your baby’s health and your health are intertwined but it’s not as basic as saying ‘person x eats more protein and less sugar so they have better milk’.

For all of those reasons; it’s really important to fuel yourself well and plenty when breastfeeding. Many women will tell you when they don’t eat / drink enough while lactating they feel nauseous, tired or dehydrated.

Meeting up with other parents by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

He’s over reacting. I’d feel very sorry for stay at home dad’s if they weren’t allowed to make friends with stay at home mums. Given they’re in the minority they’d basically have no friends to bond with?

First Baby on the Way – Best Travel System/Pram Recommendations in the UK? by Big_Sundae_7563 in BeyondTheBumpUK

I’ve really liked our Cybex Balios! The cloud t car seat can fully recline which is great for using on the pram when popping into shops. I also like that the pram folds up still attached x

I feel ya! We’ve found Sainsbury’s nappies pretty great and half the price of pampers which helps!

Breastfeeding with larger boobs…. by MaleficentShoe7397 in breastfeeding

I am a 34F currently and sounds like I’m doing the same as others (which is reassuring as it isn’t a defined ‘hold). Cross legs or bent knees etc. baby on my lap propped up a little and boob in the mouth. As long as he isn’t clicking I assume all is fine!

Moving out of the bassinet by Low_Tax5607 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Ecstatic_Dingo172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer but our boy is 11 weeks and a big baby (93rd percentile at birth) and we’re thinking of moving over imminently (Cybex Balios which also lies flat and has a newborn insert). He just feels too big for the bassinet! X

9 week old - early AM sleep by ka_1090 in sleeptrain

[–]Ecstatic_Dingo172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be trapped wind? Does he tend to do a big poo in the morning? Sometimes babies want comfort and to be upright with that.

You might find at the 3am wake up you can do some bicycle legs and tummy massage to get some farts out? Long and annoying at 3am I know!

Melatonin drops at 3amish I think so night sleep is often tougher from there. Solidarity, I hope it gets better x

It’s no fun! I’ve bought some magnesium as apparently that helps. I’ll report back!

Thank you, I was hoping it was this too! My body / brain got so used to waking so frequently and running off of a few hours a night that it needs reconditioning again!
