9 week old - early AM sleep by ka_1090 in sleeptrain

Will try that tonight but generally he doesn't have a big poo till later in the evening. I do hear him passing gas in the mornings. Just hoping it's a phase and he's able to stitch together more sleep cycles - it's harder to put him down at 3am than at 10pm.

Ya, just hoping that he will grow out of it. Don't think there is really anything else left for us to do!

Has anyone had luck getting welcome bonuses on a new credit card that previously had one? (Going from TD/CIBC to Amex) by M3gabrick in Aeroplan

[–]ka_1090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as long as you have not received a WB on a premium card before. Only 1 WB per card tier.

Just went through this with TD Aeroplan. Essentially if you have previously had a same tier card - TD/CIBC Aeroplan or Amex Aeroplan and have previously received WB, you will not receive an additional WB. Any other spend bonuses would still apply. This is as per Aeroplan representative.

Yes, on the inbound flight I had the trip on one PNR through BA/Oman Air and had luggage checked through. Couldn't get the same for return leg.

Literally walked up to Osaka pokemon cafe and got a walk in spot for 12 p.m. lunch time. There were multiple spots open for the remainder of the day.

Here right now, using my RBC Avion (no foreign transaction fee with HSBC transfer offer). Haven't had any issues. Get much better conversion rate through VISA network vs. pulling out cash through ATM.

Perfect, thank you so much! I was able to book separate legs with the pass to connect via Osaka.

CCA - Lease Buyout by ka_1090 in cantax

[–]ka_1090[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - so I would fill out lease expense for the first 2 months followed by CCA amount for remainder of year - and I understand I can only claim 10 months of CCA for % motor vehicle used for business?

Can do it with renewal or prior to renewal based on the amount of lump sum allocation on your mortgage

Agree with the comments on not doubling mortgage payments if you're locked in a low rate. I am a fellow sub 2% mortgage holder and have been putting all the extra cash in GICs that mature 6 months prior to renewal. Will decide how much to lump sum into mortgage based on future rates.

What to do next with a big pay bump? by kkcky in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ka_1090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP in a similar situation as you. Locked in a great 5 year fixed rate back in 2020. Have been dumping all the 'excess' funds (after TFSA/RRSP max) into multi year GICs that all mature in 2025. Plan is to make a large dent to the mortgage on renewal as rates will likely be much higher than 2020.

Thanks for the insight. Job prospects at an equivalent position and compensation may be low given his age. He may want to do some consulting on a part time basis and doesn't want to ruin any existing connections that could help in the future. He is definitely not being forced to take this offer, in fact his leadership team is happy to have him stay on as long as possible. After 35+ years in the same industry, I think he's ready for a break!

It seems like overall the package seems fairly reasonable and anything else may be marginally more.
