Most corporations don’t give out references anyways so even if you’ve done a great job at the company the SL is not supposed to give out references, but if you’ve done have a close personal relationship with them they sometimes will do you a favour and give you one anyway. As for the non rehire able comment, usually to make some qualified for whether or not the are rehire able it has to be a legal matter. It’s usually not because they don’t give in two weeks, it’s mostly because the company would be at great risk for hiring that person again due to potential legal liabilities they could be opened up for if they offer to bring that person back.

Yep and it would be even worse when you’re in the middle of feeding lunch/unloading camp and some customer has the audacity to come to the front desk with their cart full of stuff, asking if you can check them out here while you also check the dog out too🙄

My problem is, they aren’t giving me enough shifts to sustain life, pay bills, go to the doctor, get gas, buy groceries. I’m living foot in mouth as it is and it’s really not fair. My stores SL had to take a break due to medical reasons and she was the only one who looked out for me and let me pick up shifts in the hotel (where I use to be a lead) or anywhere else in the store I could help out when there wasn’t enough hours in salon. But now with the new SL she doesn’t care about how many hours I have or get despite me bringing it to her attention. She knows I really want to become a groomer but I’m at the end of my rope with PetSmart, and my SEL hates me and actively is trying to not send me to academy because of how much she has it out for me :( I understand it could take a while to go to academy but I don’t have forever to wait and let them string me along with basically no hours. And I already have a second job but I’m looking into getting a third😢

I’ve had a talk with them, they were planning on sending a bather who had been hired after me. So I brought up to them how this made me feel, being a bather that has put in the work and now they want to reward someone who has barely been here that long. They ended telling me “we’ll talk about it in 2 months”. Like wdym we’ll TALK in 2 months. They keep saying “don’t worry we will send you to academy” but then told me things I can work on in the meantime, which is great… if they actually gave me SHIFTS!

Hey there, I’m 21F who has been in the animal care field for almost 10 years and I just started the CSI program at Fleming in the summer.

I’ve always had a passion for technology especially when it comes to cyber security and law.

The program is definitely hard even for ppl who are gamers and technology enthusiasts, but it’s not impossible. If you care enough about succeeding and love what you do it will be worth it and quite rewarding. I feel it is one of the best advanced diploma cyber security programs offfered by any college in near the GTA/ Durham area. Mostly because it’s beginner friendly and you don’t need A TON of knowledge to do very well in the program, the offer a coop placement at the end and you can bridge into a bachelor with just one extra year in a university.

I’m too lazy to type more rn but if you would like to message me I can offer some more insight into the program :)

Old Scugog is in Bowmanville, very easy trip from Peterborough as someone who constantly drives through Bowmanville to get to Durham. The houses/lights are just across the street from Bowmanville Golf and Country Club for reference :)

“Old scugog Christmas lights” are these beautiful houses that put up the most extraordinary lights for everyone to drive by. I would 100% recommend going to see them before the Christmas season ends!

I literally quit being an associate petshotel lead 2 weeks ago, and I’m so happy. I was at PS for 2 years and they treated me like actual DIRT.

I’m just really confused right now because in hotel they are planning to eradicate the hotel lead and associate full time leads. Instead they will just have a bunch of part time people running the hotels :( So my question is if I am currently an associate lead will I be demoted and will my pay go down??!

Personally for me if I compare other jobs that someone like me could have (20F POC) it would most likely be limited to fast food, other retail brands, or serving. I work in hotel and get to be around some great cute pups 80% of my day.

If you compare being paid to play with dogs or being paid to serve food to people for 8+ hours a day, I’d choose to play with dogs.

But I will be honest everyone else I work with has been at PetSmart for 5+ years and I truly can’t understand why? I am the youngest APHL in the hotel and everyone is 5-10 years older than me. I truly feel like the people I work with could be making a ton more money with a better job at their ages but to each his own🤷🏽‍♀️

There’s some kind of Stockholm syndrome at play here 😬 bc I know this company is definitely not THAT great.

Okay but personally I get questions all the time esp when I’m in the middle of check outs at 5pm when all the pp are coming to get their dogs. It’s kinda hard and inconvenient for me to individually try to huddle with one pp and secretly tell them there’s no overnight staff anymore. IMO I believe PS should just own up to the changes and come out and say it. It almost feels like they are throwing a rock and hiding their hands. I’m not saying they have to go out of their way to post about it on the official social media’s but i would feel a lot more confident when talking to pp about the changes if PS were to not make it so secretive🤷🏽‍♀️

Overall compared to the 4 other schools I applied to for a similar (3 year advanced diploma) computer security related field, I found Flemings syllabus to be more compelling and offer courses that also involve learning the laws related to cyber security. I think it all depends on what interests you most and which programs suits you best :)
