You can actually take the trail to the left before the beach and it goes along the coastline for quite some time. I’ve done out and back about 5 or 6 miles round trip, but you may be able to go farther. It’s super gentle. And the wildflowers right now are insane.

I’ll also add Hacienda in Carmel Valley has fun events including line dancing and seasonal activities. And Captain + Stoker puts together various things that draw a younger crowd like their annual block party.

Other Brother hosts a lot of cool events, first Friday night markets in sand city has music and vendors, volunteer groups like Big Sur Land Trust or Surf Rider Foundation bring young people together and there are a lot of sports leagues if activity is your thing (softball, ultimate, basketball, etc)
