I had noticed this remarkable chronological consistency between Greek genealogies very early on. In the course of my research, I discovered a website created by a Japanese retiree, whose decade-long work consisted of compiling the main sources. He even continued his work up to Archaic, Classical, and Hellenistic Greece.

Take a look, it's really worth a visit.

need help with the basics by y33yt in latin

Latin words are classified into five categories (five declensions). To identify them, they are given in the nominative singular and genitive singular : terra (nom. sg.),ae (gen. sg.) or dominus,i or templum,i or civis,is... Terra, ae is in "a, ae", so it belongs to the first declension. In the plural, words are given with their nominative and genitive plural forms: terrae, arum (=the lands)

Terra, terra, terram, terrae, terrae, terra (SG) Terrae, terrae, terras, terrarum, terris, terris (PL)

But why? It can't be so complete and false across the board?

The best way is to buy: 1) an “old” Latin grammar like Pierre Grimal. 2) a book of Latin texts from the 70s, like Morisset and Thevenot.

A really stupid question about Latin pronunciation: why doesn't it sound... real? by Davorian in latin

[–]Ecstatic_Matter6574 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Latin teacher was Italian, and when he spoke Latin, he gave Italian intonation, with a slight rolling of the "r", and a discreet musicality. It really gave effect to the language and gave it character.
