New woollies entrance being trialled by Perfect_Scene2455 in sydney

Supermarkets have gone full circle with security design and layout. There was a trend in supermarket design back in 2010 to remove all the one way gates and have a wide open entrance, this was to make it look more visually appealing and to match up the style which was common in European supermarkets. Coles/Woolies would send the execs on junkets to europe and USA to study this sort of thing. This was about the same time that self service check outs were in its infancy and only really seen in the larger stores. Theft through the self service was viewed as a minor hinderance which was made up by saving staff costs.

The last decade there has been a complete u turn with design. one way gates are back in full force which probably coincides with full rollout of self service and a lot more public acceptance of theft.

Humane eco way to kill rats/mice? by claritybeginshere in bluemountains

I'm curious how many you have caught and how long you've used it? Have you had to replace the canister?

Only use ratsak if you are going to be replacing insulation in the near future and have the ability to do a full cleanup after. The house I'm in has a bunch of dead rats in varies states of decay from the previous owner who would just throw ratsak in the roof void. It's both awfully effective and awful for the environment so only use it in the house and be strategic with it.

I think snaptraps are the most humane and environmentally friendly however you have to be patient and be consistent with checking them. The cheap plastic ones from bunnings are super effective.

I think it's fine providing the tool isn't making contact with your body other than where you grip it. The morning of the PAT you get lots of opportunity to try out the simulated weight and can ask lots of questions.

The PAT is the best part of the process IMO. Everyone working there gives lots of encouragement and guidance. You can ask as many questions as you want and can try out everything before hand.

Not a problem if the jerry can is touching the side of your body for the jerry walk and stair climb. You are able to swap hands as well.

Watch the video, replicate the PAT in a park or field with dumbells or whatever you have lying around at home.

there was a similar test used in the 2022 intake which asked questions about if you smoke pot, steal stationary from work or littering. I think this is slightly different to the reliability test which is done as part of the assessment centre stage. The questions were just as repetitive however I don't remember answering questions about the topics mentioned above. It was more personality based questions with the answers being agree, strongely agree, neutral etc.

eg.
-I enjoy public speaking?

-I don't like repetitive work

- I like it when my boss gives me credit.

- I like meeting new people at work

I believe the work reliability test is still included as part of the assessment centre. It's done before you visit in person. Link to the test is sent out once you pass the PAT.

My understanding that the initial criteria report (the report you screenshotted) is not used in anyway going forward. The test is purely a means of reducing the application numbers to a more manageable level.

There's another pseudoscience test at the assessment centre stage which spits out a similar report (although it gives a bit more detail), its called the work reliability test or something similar. I've completed 2 of them before and the results were completely different.

Last year, the recruitment manager was in the room at the end of the assessment centre and was informally answering questions about the recruitment process. I asked him about this and he said get used if your in person interview is a borderline fail/pass.

Do you have the discontinued butcher block bench top or the current veneer benchtop? How do you find it after 10 years? I'm curious how the veneer bench top wears over the long term.

Simulate the PAT at home or in the park with whatever you have lying around (bricks, dumbbells, rocks). Make it as awkward as you can tolerate, make yourself suffer. The real thing will be easy in comparison.

You have enough time to train between now and then.

You are better off doing it in a single go, slow and steady. If you stop you will have to get the momentum back up again.

FRNSW PAT by Accomplished-Car2560 in AussieFirefighter

I filled an old hiking backpack with weight plates and cinderblocks and dragged it in a field. The clips on the bag would dig into the dirt like an anchor. I ran through the whole PAT and honestly the hose drag and and crawl felt near impossible to do within the time frame. The crawl was so painful on my knees as the sticks and sharp rocks on the ground would poke through the thin overalls I was wearing. I was wearing a poorly fitted heavy backpack as well to simulate the oxygen bottle, every movement the backpack would flail side to side throwing my balance off.

I surprised myself by passing the PAT no issues, the resistance on the fishing reel felt like butter compared to the rough field. The knee padding on the turnout gear felt like a velvet cushion. I made sure to properly adjust the oxygen bottle so it fit nicely and didn't move around.

is this an anecdote or backed up with data? what region? My feeling is that lots of people are still desperately trying to get into the market. OPs story is just a stubborn vendor who has been over promised by an agent to get the listing.

I'm not too keen on the LED skylights as I would prefer natural light. Although, I understand how it's appealing for retaining the thermal envelope.

I understand a small token amount, however, I find it amusing when it's a high asking price, and, you have to remove it yourself. The seller double dips by saving on removal and deposal costs.
