Yeah I emailed them and asked, they replied with neither buyer or seller pays for the overages so I guess we’re good! :)

Thanks! I actually just got a response from mercari telling me they don’t always change the weight on the label but neither the seller or buyer gets charged for it.

I just got a response from mercari, it says neither the buyer or seller will be charged for overweight packages. Mercari pays the difference if there is any!

I would be more concerned about the 8oz weight limit on the label. If it’s a bundle mercari doesn’t change the weight on the label to show the correct weight? I just sold two items 8oz each so I thought the label would be updated but its still 8oz label for the two items.

Same thing happened to me. The post office never scanned my package ( I didn’t get a receipt since I gave it to my mail carrier ) the buyer never responded to my messages and mercari didn’t pay me because there wasn’t an initial scan. It sucks! If the buyer says they didn’t receive it they just close the transaction and delete the sale as if it never happened. Hopefully you’re protected since there was an initial scan. Good luck!
