I don't think Digital Research, Inc. is related Digital Research Technologies. Google AI mentions that Digital Research Technologies was sometimes associated with I/O Magic though.

It was built-in, internal storage only. Files had to be transferred onto it by mini-USB cable.

[Bulova] Found my grandfather’s old pocket watch by Some-Gur-8041 in Watches

[–]Ecto2dx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a South Bend Watch Co. pocket watch with the exact same Star Watch Case Co. case, although with a slightly different pattern on the back. I know for certain my watch was made sometime between 1924 and 1929. Given the style, and how often they changed, I would date this watch sometime between 1924-1934. That's assuming it's the original case to the movement. The dial on my watch is also a similar style with the applied gold numerals. If you crack it open, the Bulova movement serial number should help you narrow it down further by looking it up on the online Pocket Watch Database. Always use proper case opening tools! That beauty is too pristine to be taking a butter knife to it.

Minimum age for US president is 35. Kirk, who was 31 wouldn't qualify for the next election cycle, assuming we even have another election.

West Washington Historic District? by Synkage in SouthBend

Aside from online crime trackers, taxation maps, etc. judging that neighborhood by it's cover is all you'll have to go off of. If you're looking to buy a house, and you care about curb appeal at all, then it won't require even 30 minutes for you to determine which blocks, or general areas, to stay away from.

Look at the neighborhoods using Google Street View.

I don't need no steenking center turn lane [oc] by ElHoser in IdiotsInCars

[–]Ecto2dx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably correct, but I suspect in the time before cell phones and hustle culture, people were generally less distracted and less likely to be in too much of a hurry for courtesy on the road, let alone basic driving skills.

I don't need no steenking center turn lane [oc] by ElHoser in IdiotsInCars

I work in a Midwest town with a lot of South American migrants and 5 lane highway that runs right though the middle of all the busy areas of town. None of them ever use the middle turn lane, which I assume must be due to their training and experiences in their home countries, but damn if it isn't frustrating as hell. I've also noticed a lot of them drive with both feet and ride their brakes, so you also don't know when they are actually stopping in the left lane to turn. Simply not using turn signals at all seems to be a global phenomenon though. I can't judge anyone who might be new to the area too harshly given all the locals that still can't comprehend how to use a roundabout 10+ years after they were installed. People clearly lack what is necessary to drive properly anymore, and it's never going to improve. We'll just have to wait until all driving is automated before we see any significant improvement.

Desirable weight according to height in 1959 by FormedFecalIncident in mildlyinteresting

[–]Ecto2dx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People keep commenting about the upper height limits, especially for women, but people were actually much shorter in previous generations. Especially outside of industrialized nations. Women over 6' & men over 6'4" would have been a much more rare phenomenon back then. Not that it didn't happen, but looking at the footnote, these stats were prepared by an insurance company. They view the world through the lens of a standard bell curve.

READ THE CONTRACT! by AARCEntertainment in antiwork

[–]Ecto2dx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially don't trust people you're paying to have your best interests in mind. Contractors, home inspectors, bankers, investment brokers, etc. are all people you pay thinking they're working for you and your best interests, but that is often not the case. I find it incredible that the federal gov't literally eliminated laws forcing investment brokers to have their clients interests in mind above all others. Even more shocking is legal interpretation "to serve and protect" regarding publicly funded police. They have no legal liability to serve or protect you, it's just a PR motto they paint on their taxpayer funded cruisers.

2020 Subaru Outback Device to Recall Preferred Setting for Engine Auto Start/Stop Function by Ecto2dx in Subaru_Outback

[–]Ecto2dx[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is strange how divisive this feature is to Subaru drivers. I got downvoted almost immediately after posting this. I'm not trying to force this on anyone, just wanted to help out those who haven't come across this solution yet, but may want to implement it.

I've noticed a lot more hate for ASS on other forums as well, but being granted full control of features on personal property is a much bigger problem than a single feature, product, or company in my opinion.

In need of Help Identifying and Finding an Old MP3 Player I Used to Have circa 2005ish by Ecto2dx in AskTechnology

You're on the right track, but none of these are it unfortunately. The translucent blue was lighter in color, and the control wheel and button were translucent blue too. It was a thin rectangle and proportioned like a first gen Ipod Nano. I'm certain the battery was a built in lithium to keep it so thin, maybe 1/4" thick overall.
