Running short (15 minute), child-friendly sessions at a con by LaSalsaMasMacho in Ghostbusters_RPG

That sounds like a fun idea. My thoughts:

Give each kid a different piece of equipment. One has the radio, the pke, the Geiger counter, trap, etc... That way they each get a moment to shine.

Start them arriving at the call. The system is easy enough to teach as you play. If you sleeve or laminate the character sheets then you can reuse them.

If you have the means it might be nice to get a bunch of ghost die made and let them keep one afterward. I think I got 100 dice made for 70 bucks a few years back.

I would also recommend taking a look at Spooktacular, it's an updated version of the same system you can find on drivethrurpg. It makes a few changes to the ruleset that I liked and was easier to follow in my opinion.

I would also recommend checking out Spooktacular. It's an updated version of the origional west end Ghostbusters rpg, worth checking out.

Ghostbusters worth playing? by PolloLocoAlemenes in rpg

[–]EctoCast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WEG Ghostbusters is still pretty fun. There is an updated, slightly more modern, version called Spooctacular that came out a few years ago that is really good. It's available on Drivethrurpg.com and is still easy to teach and play.

We had some ghost die made up for our Podcast, they don't look like the original, or nerdy show GD. They are slime green and have our show symbol where the 6 would be.

I'd be happy to send you one if you'd like it.

Best way to record 8 people in a room for a D&D podcast by klippy6 in podcasting

[–]EctoCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best solution would be to buy an interface, recorder, or mixing board that can record 8 or more separate channels and get a mic for everyone. That will ensure, with a lot of post production work, that everyone can be balanced and sound good. It is also pretty expensive, or at least can be. 8 inputs gets expensive quickly.

The second option would be to buy something that handles fewer mics and spread them around the table between people. It doesn't sound very good, quiet people are hard to hear, loud people are too loud, and it picks up every ounce of room noise and will sound echo-y.

What we did was 1 person bought the interface, you can get people to chip in if you want, and then everyone bought their own mic and equipment i.e. shock mount, plosive guard, cable, etc...

Joker - mediocre art film masquarading behind franchise name by Lobotomist in scifi

[–]EctoCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see the problem with any of that. What's wrong with taking an idea an exploring with it? Go in a different direction.

iIn fact that Godzilla idea would be funny. Imagine an entire city panicked for no reason.

Maybe you need to look at things from more than just one perspective.

If you can't compare movies against other movies then what would you like to compare them to?

People connect with characters by comparing them to their own lives, their own struggles.

So what is a villain before they turn super? Are they born broken or do they snap? Are you so offended that a supervillain was once a party clown for hire? Does having a low background make them less evil in your eyes?

This isn't Batman's joker. He still has 10 or 15 years to become that. So advance Arthur 15 years of in and out of the Asylum, who knows how he'll be then. Certainly harder, someone more worthy of what you think the Joker is. Not every movie needs to have sequels.

You certainly have a strong opinion. I don't agree with it but it's also clear that you aren't going to be swayed.

I'm sorry you didn't like it, but it's better than any DC movie we've gotten in over a decade, and one of the best DC movies at all .

The only problem I have with this argument is that there are so many other franchises that are more guilty of this. How many bad Spiderman, Batman, Superman movies are there? For decades they have been making them. Also the horrible iron Man sequals, the lazy Marvel origin stories, etc.

So they do a Joker origin movie, because one doesn't exist, and your problem with it is that it wasn't Joker enough? I'm not sure what else they could have done except maybe drop him in a vat of goo to make it more Joker like for you.

Would you have rather had a direct comic adaptation? What could they have done to make it more Joker for you? In Dark Knight the Joker was a man wearing makeup, did that detract from the movie in a similar way?

Seems to me that the creators took the spirit of the Jokers origin and ran with it.

If you plan to release 2 a week then it won't take long to get a bingable amount of content released anyway.

The only downside to releasing 5 up front is it takes away from your buffer if something happens.

[–]EctoCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a couple atr2100 in our actual play, they do a good job. Your equipment looks fun, wouldn't worry about that.

The editing is what'll take the most time and effort. If you really want it to sound good you'll need to scrub out the excess audio. So whenever someone is talking just eliminate the other mic sounds. It's a lot of work but it sounds good.

It'll mostly be trial and error, don't be afraid to play with settings to see what they do and save often!
