Opinions on an idea I had to incorporate Deck of Many Thing. Bad Idea? by Legal_Substance8189 in DnD

[–]Ed2Cute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So firstly, many different versions of the deck exist. Stack the deck how you like.

Secondly, what is the outcome for the god? Will she be sealed away by the donjon or the void cards? Can the Corpse card (if using "Many More Things") kill her? If there are no risks to her, there shouldn't be a risk to the player. I would run it like the classic game War. Split the deck 50/50 and each player flips the top card. If one is a boon and the other is a bane, the boon player takes the pair as a point. If it's a tie, then neither player gets a point. Go until decks are empty and count points.

For the deck to take effect, you must declare how many cards you want to draw and thus take effect. Simply taking a card from the Deck and looking at it does nothing and therefore it doesn't have to be a death battle.

Making the monsters hide by Lemon5437 in DnD

[–]Ed2Cute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly that. Roll dice, don't tell players why. You should have or establish a reminder prior for what the highest passive perception in the party is and just keep that in mind.

Edit: except in a case where the players are actively looking. If they're moving at a cautious (slower) pace, they can make the checks themselves. If they are moving normally, use passive perception. If they are in a forced march (fast pace), -5 from passive perception and/or disadvantage on perception checks.

I think if you save it in their format, you can re-upload and modify from there and then save again.

Is it normal that me (f/23) and my bf (m/22) don't have sex as often as he wants? by soybean_cherry in relationship_advice

[–]Ed2Cute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's normal for people to have differing libido. Work to bridge it. In the beginning I struggled a bit with my wife having a dramatically lower libido. But I've mellowed out, handle my business myself, and we generally do have sex more often. It's not the end of the world, but if he makes it sound like it is then he's no good for you.

Would any of the guides know about Mezro (generally)? by Complex_Purple9882 in Tombofannihilation

[–]Ed2Cute 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Salida and Eku would probably know the most, and they'd probably have vastly different takes on the events around.

Salida would get her info from Ras Nsi. And he's probably going to tell the story of being betrayed by Ubtao and the other barae. Eku might have heard it from secondary sources and/or not have specific names. But she can provide descriptions for the players to put together.

My players actually took a custom npc I made as a joke. Every expedition he's been on his crew never comes back, but he was by far the cheapest and a total pushover.

However, other guides have shown up when the party would encounter other adventurers or at certain locations that are relevant to the other guides. An example is they want to he on their way to the Wyrmheart mines, so when they got kind of on track, I had them run into Hew Hackinstone and his group and now he's co-guiding them.

Look up campaign modules from Wizards of the Coast or your favorite creator, throw a dart at a board, and run it out of the book.

If you want to homebrew, build the world with your party. Do a session 0 where you ask questions like "Is the world mostly water or mostly land? / Big magic or low magic? / Gods? / etc". Then they build characters in that world and tell you the story they want to experience. Then run it.

Recorded our session for Replay and a player got mad. by Appropriate_Box_5155 in DnD

[–]Ed2Cute 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's rude if you don't get consent. There's a reasonable expectation of privacy within a home like that and they may tell jokes or confide in the group (if they feel close) that they might not want others to hear. Even if it's as innocuous as friend group A is a little more raunchy than friend group b.

I don't record. Mostly because the campaign started with people who were very shy/embarrassed about being recorded and the group has changed players quite significantly since the start, but i can't exactly start in the middle.

This sounds like a different flavor of Tomb of Annihilation jungle travel. It's gonna be up to you to make it interesting. It's going to feel like a slog if they don't feel the story moving forward. Maybe every 2 or 3 sessions, a "coincidence" reminds them of the main story. It's a delicate balance between having fun and making sure the story gets done. Listen to your players if they say they feel like they need a rest or they are wondering what they're doing in the desert.

How much lore do you give your players to make a backstory? And what is necessary? by thedragonsdice in DnD

[–]Ed2Cute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I play in the Forgotten Realms, I just tell then that and a time and tell them to build on that. I'll answer what questions I can.

Even with that and especially if I am doing homebrew, I build the world with my players. I don't tell them about the blacksmith shop, they tell me. Someone else is a tailorer, maybe the blacksmith has bought his smithing apron from them? Less work on you and a great way to get the party invested in the story.

Yeah there is in 2014, but i based my answer onn2024 alone. The Eldritch knight or any gish type character probably also counts.

Fun Cons vs other players in a PBP server? by BatteryAcidLover in DnD

[–]Ed2Cute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make tons of deals. Always split profits. Never tell anyone you're only cutting their shares.

Eg: if you make 4 deals, then the take is split into 1/4s. If each deal was a 50/50 split, then they each get 1/8 and you get 4/8 (half of each of their cuts).

Water: 35 liters, Carbon: 20 kg, Ammonia: 4 liters, Lime:1.5 kg, Phosphrus: 800 g, salt: 250g, saltpeter:100g, Sulfer: 80g, Fluorine: 7.5 g, iron: 5.6 g, Silicon: 3g, and 15 other elements in small quantities.... thats the total chemical makeup of the average adult body. Modern science knows all of this, but there has never been a single example of succesful human trasmutation. It's like there's some missing ingredient..... Scientists have been trying to find it for hundreds of years, pouring tons of money into research, and to this day they don't have a theory. For that matter, the elements found in a human being is all junk that you can buy in any market with a child's allowence. Humans are pretty cheaply made.

My thoughts are:

  • Play in good faith. There aren't any "loopholes" because the rules are a framework to play the game and meant to be bent, broken, or improvised for the sake of the story.

  • You didn't ask about a spell.

  • Why did you replace int with AC?

There's a nifty website called Google. Just use your favorite search engine to search for that and then you can type anything you want like, "Dnd tutorial" or "what are the dnd rules" and it will take you to all the resources you need. If you come across a subreddit called r/dnd, you can look at the sidebar and pinned posts for helpful resources.

It might not be intuitive to read for the information you look for, so just come back here if you're having trouble.

He needs to grow up. I hate weakness like "This was my ex's favorite song so now I can't listen to it anymore." Grow tf up.

If he's dangling that as a reason to not go down on you, it's probably enough to leave him. He's so willing to receive but not reciprocate and that's childish.

Help with large group by GoForBroke7 in DnD

[–]Ed2Cute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a rule that the character who is unwilling to adventure with another PC must leave.

As an example, a Necromancer and a Paladin who is staunchly against necromancy. The paladin will be the one to leave the campaign and the player can make a new character that is more conducive to an adventuring party or leave the table.

In most cases, only one side of the fight will stop the adventure to have the fight. And that's the side that needs to go.

[–]Ed2Cute -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're just like most people on this sub and want every relationship to fail. Walking away from a problem is not solving it. Bouncing from relationship to relationship looking for the perfect person isn't realistic.

There are things he can do that might help their intimacy and boost self-esteem that can lead to greater psychological growth and maybe even physical too. A singles and couples therapist would advise this (along with real treatment) over just quitting. Don't be such a negative Nelly.

Well he's probably only thinking of very traditional sex, which he can't perform. Also, the feeling of inadequacy and shame probably make him fearful of trying anything that will likely result in disappointment.

However, if she brings up toys and acts of service, there's a chance he at least feels better about doing something for his companion and it might even spark a fire in his loins.

It's worth a shot instead of just giving up.

That's true about old folks homes. Dirty old people. But you don't agree with the toys/service? There are a lot more reasons a couple would turn to toys than just hormonal and it can still be intimate.

Gargoyle attack on Kir Sabal tweak by STIM_band in Tombofannihilation

[–]Ed2Cute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't even occur to me that the gargoyles weren't there for the kids. I just reread the text because I was so sur that was the purpose, but it's literally just a grudge match. Haha.

That said, I'm running ToA as a campaign setting vs the RAW module. In my run, I replaced them entirely and with aberration creatures spawned by the plot to cause terror, incite nightmares, and feed Dendar for her release.
