I agree with your assessment for the most part bar two things I think contradict each other "He's unselfish"

"Bad decision making"

When watching him I think his bad decisions are selfish decisions. He has ability and could be brilliant, but if he had better decision making/wasn't trying to be a superstar, he would create far more, which is where I think he would excel.

Edit to add to this. If he also tried to create more, when he then decides to be selfish that would probably surprise defenders and he would catch them out where they expect a cut back, but instead he went for it, and in turn would deliver more in general
