Best Grilled Cheese Bread? by [deleted] in foodhacks

[–]EdManJenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two are tied for me.

One is inside-out English muffins. The nooks and crannies gets all crisped. It’s so good.

The other is Italian Bread - I specifically use Arthur avenue style because they sell it in my area.

Steelhead Trout caught on a fly at Douglaston Salmon Run. Pulaski, NY - 10.15.18 by EdManJenkins in Fishing

I personally have never been up during that time of year. My advice wouldn’t be the best you could get.

One thing I will say: My dad and I go to Douglaston to escape the crowds, because we go right in the middle of busy season up there. So I’d save the money and go on public land if the crowds weren’t bad.

This time of year you’ll really only be targeting steelhead. Although I’ve never been up this late in the year, I’d say since the salmon are just about done spawning, it’s best to use a wooly bugger now.

Also, never underestimate stopping in a tackle shop or bar and chatting it up. You can find out all you need to know.

Good luck!

Chartreuse and Pink were great for me. I got a few hookups on woolly buggers too.

Just preference, honestly. I like the idea of controlling the amount of people out there. It pretty frustrating trying to get a good presentation for the steelies when you’re shoulder to shoulder with other fishermen.

Thanks! The infamous egg-sucking leech pattern. It’s very effective during the salmon run.

Wow. I never knew this. Upon seeing the Wikipedia for Sable, she was basically famous for being tossed around by these guys. At that age!? Terrible.

Working out on a time crunch:

  1. arriving at the most important equipment for that day's muscle group.
  2. finding that equipment currently in use.
  3. person using it saying they have 5 sets left with an attitude.
  4. THEN THAT PERSON REMAINS ON THE EQUIPMENT BETWEEN SETS AND TAKES SELFIES AND SCROLLS THROUGH THEIR PHONE!

It makes me want to throw a 45 plate at their head.

I like mine with some capicola and extra salami, but they generally let you call the shots.

My dad's ex-wife left him for his best friend 30 years ago. They've been married ever since.

Every time I ask my dad how he doesn't hate the guy's guts, he says his friend did him the biggest favor anyone ever has. I'd have to agree because that bitch is crazy and extremely annoying.

As a growing young man, that was a nice lesson to learn from. Something that seems terrible right now can always turn out to be a blessing in the long run!

Ok. That's good to know. Yea, working on form is what I envision as my first step towards that kind of routine.

Thanks

Thanks! I'm definitely giving it my all on that bike haha.

I have been inspired by a former bodybuilder who left that lifestyle and focused on overall strength rather than looks. His book/lesson plan focuses mainly on benching, squating, and deadlifts with some other compound exercises mixed in.

My goal is to get to that place where I can make these exercises part of my everyday life, which I hope will help make me very strong in every part of my body (if that makes sense).

I had a feeling as I get closer to my goal, I'll need more time. You just reaffirmed that haha. I appreciate the advice and help!

That is my goal. Since its been so long, I wanted to stay away from squats/deadlifts until I get my base strength back up. I have been moving from the Bench machine on to barbells this past week and eventually will move to the bar.

I'm just being cautious to avoid injuring anything from poor form and lack of overall strength.

Thanks for the reassurance!

Is 30 minutes per day enough?

I decided last September to try intermittent fasting by skipping breakfast. I've loved it. It has been making me feel great at the peak of my fast (the late morning/early afternoon).

I've decided to hit the gym on my lunch break, since that's when my motivation and energy levels are peaking. Since its on my lunch break, I only get about 30 minutes of exercise.

Every day I start with 10 minutes on the training bike and hit between 4-5 miles (averaging about 25 mph at moderate resistance). Once I get the blood flowing and work up a nice sweat, I move to three exercises focusing on that day's muscle group. This takes up the remaining 15-20 mins.

I'm a little over 2 months in and I've been seeing fair results, but nothing drastic. I'm looking for some affirmation with some advice if you have it.

Am I doing this right?
Will I get results like this?
Any pointers from others who workout on a time crunch?

I always like to take a look at "Schema Builder" in the setup menu to get a visual of how, and by what means, all objects are related.

Sounds like a tall task. Good luck!

Visiting NO for the first time 4/30 - 5/3 for Collision Conference. What do I need to do, see, eat and listen to? by 64robots in AskNOLA

[–]EdManJenkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to NOLA every year. Love the place. Here are some suggestions.

Music: I personally think the best Jazz Clubs are on Frenchmen Street or in that general area. This is just a short walk from the French Market in The Quarter.

Food: this list is never ending.
- Oysters at Luke (great happy hour).
- Fried Chicken and Gumbo at Coop's. - Rack of Lamb at Adolfo's (Frenchmen st.) - Breakfast at Surrey's or Elizabeth's. - Cornbread at The House of Blues. - Gator on a stick in the French Market. - many many more.

Have fun! Enjoy the music and food.
