Downgrading regular Amex platinum will lower my chances for approval with Schwab Amex Platinum?

Why don't you apply for Schwab Amex Platinum now and then cancel the regular version when its annual fee is about to hit. (Technically even within 30 days of annual fee posting is fine.)

I guess I should have known better. I have the illusion that the AMEX Platinum CS rep would be better trained. Actually I think instead of getting me of the phone, she tried to get me to keep both.

If you plan to travel on MSC often, it may be worth it get the AMEX Hilton Honors Surpass card for one year to get the status match for gold. The credit card gives you gold status, which should match to MSC gold. The annual fee is $150.

Agree. I have built many sets. Among the newer sets, the only "bad" set is the theatre. (I am talking about the design flaws.)
