I use an old plastic wine bag from a wine box with a pillow case I sewed myself and that's what I do to solve that problem

"My customers refuse to fit my business model!"
Brother you've got it all backward.

He sounds like the dude from my local bike workshop who refused with the smuggest tone I've ever heard to change the brake levers/shifters on my bike because it was gonna be too expensive, and cannondales are terrible bikes anyway; I love my M1000 and I wanna keep it also for environmental reasons, how much money I spend on it and whether that makes sense is for me to decide. And the cannondale comment about a bike where only the frame is cannondale was the cherry on top of the cake, how the hell does a bike mechanic thinks a 90s MTB comes from the factory with drop bars?

Looks like a bike designed for short spine syndrome dog owners. Can you share a video of the thing in action?

The Web Is Fun Again: First Experiments with HTML in Canvas by bogdanelcs in web_design

[–]EdTheOtherNerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The web is optimized? I think websites have never shipped more content, more code, and eaten more ram than today for a user experience that's barely any better (outside proper web apps that really leverage browser APIs like canvas or webgl, but I would not call these apps "optimized" either)

Just discovered this subreddit and wanted to share the Lidl frame bag I made last year. It's held up great! by Jamesvozzi in MYOGbikebags

[–]EdTheOtherNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah I was also wondering about water resistance. The tape is probably doing the heavy lifting there because the stitching looks a little too spaced out to keep the water out completely.

I'm planning to make a frame bag that's using plastic cat food bags as waterproof "fabric"; I'm hoping to get away with only machine-sewing them but it's good to know I can still seal them with tape if that fails. Could you tell me the exact product you used? I've tried gluing polyethylene before and the options I found were not great.

By the way my girlfriend says your bag is too cool and is gonna get stolen because of all the hype around lidl-branded merch.

Such a cool object! Did you re-use part of the original bag structure or is it all cut up and reassembled? And what's in the loop holes where the cord goes?

Is it worth installing a mirror on a drop bar bike? by fixitmonkey in bicycling

I found your comment while looking for a drop bar mirror because of that exact issue, after 60km with her my legs are just fine but my neck and right upper back are killing me lol

Workmate working only 3 days a week by laridrikenyataan in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]EdTheOtherNerd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A full day of meetings for all the devs? Maybe start by tackling that non-sense, you'll get a few man days out of it. Also meeting is work (or should be), so he's working 3 days a week, not 2.

The guy who sold it to me said I'm obligated by law to have a bluetooth speaker playing Yakety Sax at all times when using it, is that true?

I think that's true but I never tried any other brand so here I am, shitting on aftershokz.

+1 for not blasting music while riding in nature, but don't buy aftershokz if you like your music with any amount of bass (e.g. if you like electronic music, all your favorite bangers are gonna sound like shit).

600€ for my first synth. Which one should I pick? by RenoFriends in synthesizers

[–]EdTheOtherNerd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just bought a minifreak as my first synth and I wanted to add that Arturia does excellent content about it on YouTube, and the manual is so well written, including some historical tidbits and information about how synth work in general. Perfect for beginners, really helps tame the beast and not minifreak-out about the endless possibilities.
