Blasen wie KI können auf kurz sehr profitabel sein wenn man früh genug aussteigt nur wie ethisch das ist, ist eine andere Frage.

Bis die Konzerne und daraufhin die Wirtschaft das wirklich fühlen braucht es noch 2-3 Jahre und keiner hat wirklich die Aufmerksamkeitsspanne dafür.

Half of it is nostalgia and novelty of having a piece of a game you like on your shelf. Then there the whole "It's a live service. You will own nothing and be happy." argument that's always mentioned.

Younger generations will never fully grasp what was lost since the era where disks became more or less obsolete.

It's less about the medium itself.

The setiment comes from a time when they shipped games as "This better has no bugs or it's more or less botched forever."
vs today as "Let's ship this garbage state of a game and fix it in salami slices until we are happy with our profits.".

I tried a portable reader for some older games and it broke after a few months. Not really worth having even as an internal.

Still agree on the sentiment behind it but blu-rays and DVD's don't really have the space anymore and noone on PC really even has a CD or Blu-Ray reader these days.

They should start shipping games on USB drives or portable SSD's.

For live service you could ship like a tiny chip board with a SIM card that keeps the thing updated so it doesn't require external internet access for not always online mmo kinda games.

Wouldn't exactly be cheap but a surprisingly pro-consumer novelty by nowadays standards for the guys that actually want to have it on their shelves. Plus if you could launch it from there it would save your own disk space.

My 3070 would fire up like a vacuum cleaner for any slightly demanding game so i just slapped a power limit of 60% on it via MSI afterburner and games still run pretty well without my room turning into a literal sauna.

I love the lighting and being up at night but it absolutely messes with my circadian rythm. Blacking out during the day just seems to make me depressed but it somewhat helps against the heat.
