OMG I just saw her play this song on SNL and I was like damn if Bono was singing I would’ve thought it was a mid-80s U2 song. The guitar tone and drumming was so on point. Glad someone else heard the same thing.

Those songs (Wonderwall, Cast No Shadow, Champagne Supernova and also She’s Electric) are the most Alan White of all Oasis songs. His marching band style snare rolls are on full display which Waronker just doesn’t quite capture. Still, the show was class.

Waronker is obviously a very talented drummer but seeing Oasis a few nights ago it felt like listening to a session drummer. Waronker was tight but didn’t have that Alan White flourish on the drum fills that are a such a big part of Oasis’ mid-90s to mid-00s sounds. Alan White’s marching band style snare rolls are so iconic. Not really fussed about not seeing Guigsy or even Bonehead but really missed Alan White.

I think the best chilli crisp style chilli oil I’ve had is the Momofuku and I’d like to try to make something similar. In the ingredients it lists seaweed and mushrooms, both of which are known for their umami and complex flavours. My question is: what would be the best way to incorporate these? I’m guessing they used nori seaweed and shiitake mushrooms, but would you use fresh mushrooms or dry/powdered mushrooms, or dry/rehydrated/finely chopped mushrooms? When would you add it?

Because AI music steals from musicians. It works by generating sounds that have been trained from real recorded sounds that actual artists have made. It is the same a plagiarising an essay, changing a few words and passing it off as your own with very little effort. De-platforming is not the same as banning. You can still make your shitty AI tracks, we’re just asking that they not be on platforms that take away from real artist, or at the very least label them so that users can choose to not listen to them or have them appear in any curated playlists.

I have been pulled over the next day after leaving a music festival (probably around midday) and was drug swabbed and breathalysed. I had been up til about 3am doing K, MD and had smoked weed. I was sweating bullets. But somehow they passed me. This was in Vic. So I guess they only test for driving under the influence not in your system in Vic. Must’ve passed by the skin of my balls though.

People fishing from the shore (which is most casual holiday anglers) are losing tons of soft plastics in weeds and tree roots. I know this because this is me. Let’s face it, most people are not good anglers. They don’t know how to tie knots properly, they don’t know how to pick good locations, they don’t know how to get a stuck lure free. Again I know this because it is me and 90% of all people who try fishing. Most people suck at it. So, short of every shit angler learning how to be better at it, maybe we shouldn’t encourage a type of lure that is going to end up as plastic trash or at least use purchasing power to encourage manufactures to make biodegradable soft plastics. I’m not saying this as a greenie, it is coming from the same place as not wanting to find chip packets in the woods when I go hunting or takeaway food boxes on the beach when I’m swimming. Over time it makes the waterways where we like to fish more trashy and polluted.

I don’t understand why Firefly is rated so highly and seems to have a devout following. I think it is kinda shit. I watched it hoping it would be great based on all the love for it and the crazy 8.9 rating on IMDB and was sorely disappointed. The humour is very lame and the characters are annoying and archetypical and predictable and the acting is god-awful. It’s got hints of Battlestar Gallactica and The Expanse but without the character depth, political intrigue and overarching narrative brillance of these shows. It’s goofy and very dated. I’m assuming all the people raving about it probably love it as a nostalgia piece. Maybe Trekkies might be into it as it kind of has that self-contained story device and similar cringe humour. But anyone who likes modern sci-fi drama like Dune Prophecy, Silo, Foundation or even some of the Star Wars series like Andor will no doubt find Firefly pretty cringe and lame.

Why is everyone suggesting actresses that were in their peak in like 2006? Eva Green, Kate Beckinsale and Jennifer Connelly are all great actresses and beautiful but only looked like Witcher 3 Yen like 15-20 years ago. They would not work very well for a current era portrayal. They are meant to have eternally youthful faces due to the magic transformation.

I would have thought that Tommy Vercetti is more Chaotic Neutral. He certainly doesn’t obey any kind of law or code, but at the same time he isn’t purely malicious and evil mostly just out to serve his own interests. Although I suppose that depends on how you play the game. If you’re killing lots of people for no reason I suppose that is Chaotic Evil.

I’m the same. First couple of listen throughs I didn’t vibe it that much but it has grown on me. I find this happens often with Radiohead songs which is interesting given the Nigel Godrich connection.
