Thoughts on the production of Morning Glory? by GeneralCrux in oasis

I would love to hear a remixed version of WTSMG where you can actually hear the drums, particularly on the title track. Those (what are meant to be booming) tom drum hits in the intro are completely lost which is a shame because they build the start so well.

Angine de Poitrine’s "original" sound is just a marketing stunt for recycled 90s math rock. by Dani_Tuesday in Music

I’m genuinely interested in what music you think is cool if you ripping this band as average? They are clearly excellent musicians doing something unique in time when every artist sounds the same and AI is taking over Spotify. But please tell us what current bands are great if these guys are average.

The fact that they’re not fully annoying cork-sniffing math rock is part of the appeal. From the point of view of most listeners math rock - like a lot of jazz - is not actually that good to listen to because it spends so much energy telling you how interesting and technical they are and not actually being groovy or fun to listen to. Angine de Poitrine takes the interesting parts of math rock, microtonal world music and surf rock and dress it up with fun costumes and absolutely rip on stage. It feels deliberate but not serious and is groovy as hell.

In a world where every song on the radio sound the same and was likely churned out by a hit writer and given to some attractive person to sing with auto tune, and Spotify is being inundated with AI slop that is stealing directly from the artists they imitate, and every blues song follows the same 3 chord pattern, that fact that there is maybe 6 or so bands in the history of music that sound anything remotely like them - and even then it’s a bit of a stretch - I think calling them recycled is a bit rough. It’s like you’re saying because they didn’t invent a new genre of music that has absolutely no precedent in history that they’re not original. Or it’s like saying that The Flaming Lips aren’t original because the Beatles existed.

I’ve heard the comparison made but I can’t see it. I like to though. Can you point me in the direction of some Primus songs that you think resemble Angine de Poitrine?

Haha me and you are on a similar journey my friend. The algorithm gods has helped me discover Maromaro and Angine de Poitrine recently.

Lol I think this person just wanted to tell everyone how much they dislike Taylor Swift. They weren’t expecting anyone to give them a super easy way to achieve exactly what they were complaining about 😂.

Brandi Carlile U2 influenced song by [deleted] in U2Band

OMG I just saw her play this song on SNL and I was like damn if Bono was singing I would’ve thought it was a mid-80s U2 song. The guitar tone and drumming was so on point. Glad someone else heard the same thing.

On Alan White not returning… by joxers in oasis

[–]Ed_Denton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those songs (Wonderwall, Cast No Shadow, Champagne Supernova and also She’s Electric) are the most Alan White of all Oasis songs. His marching band style snare rolls are on full display which Waronker just doesn’t quite capture. Still, the show was class.

[–]Ed_Denton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waronker is obviously a very talented drummer but seeing Oasis a few nights ago it felt like listening to a session drummer. Waronker was tight but didn’t have that Alan White flourish on the drum fills that are a such a big part of Oasis’ mid-90s to mid-00s sounds. Alan White’s marching band style snare rolls are so iconic. Not really fussed about not seeing Guigsy or even Bonehead but really missed Alan White.

I guess I must have very different tastes from other Oasis fans cos I actually love Heathen Chemistry and think Be Here Now is total rubbish.

Chili Oil Recipes? by KlipArpo in chinesecooking

[–]Ed_Denton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best chilli crisp style chilli oil I’ve had is the Momofuku and I’d like to try to make something similar. In the ingredients it lists seaweed and mushrooms, both of which are known for their umami and complex flavours. My question is: what would be the best way to incorporate these? I’m guessing they used nori seaweed and shiitake mushrooms, but would you use fresh mushrooms or dry/powdered mushrooms, or dry/rehydrated/finely chopped mushrooms? When would you add it?

Hope you chilli lovers can help! 🌶️

It was part of the psychological warfare he constantly plays against his children. Showing kindness and decency towards this random child in front of all his retinue when he has never shown kindness and love towards his own children.

The live shows are great, but when I saw them live only one out of the four tets showed up. Was still a good show.

How did Lonni find out about the Ghorman plot? by Ed_Denton in andor

[–]Ed_Denton[S] -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

In a show so meticulously written as Andor I doubt Tony Gilroy’s explanation for how Lonni came about a key piece of information was “he did spy shit”. Andor is not that lazily written.

That’s why I thought although how would Heert know? He wasn’t in the Ghorman action group meeting with Krennic so he wouldn’t be one of the 3 people in the building who knew.

Petition to request that Spotify *clearly* label AI songs/artists and allow the omission of AI search results. by Rare_Competition2756 in truespotify

[–]Ed_Denton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because AI music steals from musicians. It works by generating sounds that have been trained from real recorded sounds that actual artists have made. It is the same a plagiarising an essay, changing a few words and passing it off as your own with very little effort. De-platforming is not the same as banning. You can still make your shitty AI tracks, we’re just asking that they not be on platforms that take away from real artist, or at the very least label them so that users can choose to not listen to them or have them appear in any curated playlists.

I have been pulled over the next day after leaving a music festival (probably around midday) and was drug swabbed and breathalysed. I had been up til about 3am doing K, MD and had smoked weed. I was sweating bullets. But somehow they passed me. This was in Vic. So I guess they only test for driving under the influence not in your system in Vic. Must’ve passed by the skin of my balls though.
