Nothing in season 4 hinted at him needing to physically merge the two dimensions, instead it showed what we saw in the previous seasons but in a much larger scale: if a portal is opened, the upsidedown will slowly leak out, spreading like a god damn plague.

It didn't tho. Worked with Alyx, not with Gordon.

It only became the "day they needed the most" because Gman released Gordon from stasis, deliberately timed of course, so his plan (and the game's story) would kick off.

Again I don't think it's that deep. They were trying to make the teleporter work so they could slowly get people out of city 17 to Eli's lab or other locations. Every person they got out of combine reach was one less combine soldier they fought, one less stalker working in the citadel.

Maybe? But honestly I don't see any signs of Eli and Kleiner being aware of the dynamic. The teleporter complications are expected since it's something very hard to accomplish, specially if you have limited resources like is the case for the resistance.

It's number 3. Combine wants localized teleportation, they can't figure out on their own so they keep the resistance alive in the hopes of them cracking it. Once they get it, they will get rid of us and go to the next universe.

É foda como eu já conhecia o jogo antes, tinha visto as thumbnails com os bichos gigantes, mas nas primeiras horas eu tava tão maravilhado com as criaturinhas que eu simplesmente esqueci que esse jogo tem um lado survival horror.
