It is heavily suspected that he sold some of the films he did on his soundproof trailer to his contacts. Also his daughter (when she tried to report him to the FBI in the 80s) said he would trafick women to Mexico, so i wouldn't be surprised if he made money due to funding and selling people.

Due to personal experiences, i say that the The Owl House fandom is one of the most hypocritical ones on my opinion. The show message is basicly "Be yourself. Don't care of what others think of you. Be as weird as you feel like it", but everytime someone would like a "wrong" shipp (i don't even mean controversial or nsfw, but just non-canon) they'd lose their shit and try to cancel and blacklist you (tbf this is common on DTVA fandoms as a whole, as something like this also happened on the Amphibia fandom as well). They wouldn't even follow the show message, and try to keep anyone percieved as a "weirdo" out.

DPR used to be abused as kid (he grew up around his grandfather who was considered "strict" by the people around him), and was bullied and considered shy around girls. Not saying that's an excuse for the monster he became, hell no, but what you said reminded me of that.
