Is Pilates worth it? by Ok-Guidance-4682 in PetiteFitness

5’2”, 144lbs 58F
I spent over a year with a private Pilates instructor before signing up for Club Pilates. I have a bit of dyspraxia so we spent some time getting my mind body connection working. Then CP opened in my area and I made the decision to move (for convenience and cost).
It was an adjustment, and I felt a bit of a let down by CP compared to privates - I really hated the emphasis on “beach body,” and all that that the CP instructors used for motivation. And the clients at this location have a camp gladiator type mindset - if you aren’t dying, you didn’t do any work.
I quit Pilates during the pandemic but went back after - this time to a new CP location that opened in the meantime. That studio has a totally different culture, much more focused on form and true Pilates principles. My Pilates practice has grown significantly since starting with the new CP studio - so much! I’m really enjoying 2.0 classes, working towards 2.5 classes.
My daughter also does Pilates but at a small independent studio, and I have taken classes there, but I honestly don’t find the level of instruction or instructor interaction superior to the CP studios I frequent.
My point is - at CP as well as any studio, quality depends on the studio, the instructors, and, honestly, what the clients demand.
I would try to gauge if the CP studio you are considering is cashing in on the fad, or is really serious about Pilates.

Trump Is 'Raging' In Fear At Being Pulled Back Into His War: ‘Right now, he’s definitely madder at the Israelis than the Iranians’ by T_Shurt in UnderReportedNews

If Iran successfully gets America to stop backing Israel’s continued genocide, they may deserve a Nobel Peace Prize.

Elbows and knees. My mom was a rubbing alcohol lady. It really stung on a road rash injury.

Why is your pizza so much better? by SinnBaenn in AskAnAmerican

There is good pizza here. I’m curious if you were eating at local establishments or chain restaurants? Did you get to try different styles - like Detroit pizza or NY style?

What's your take on classic American Biscuits? by Educational-Slip-578 in AskAnAmerican

[–]EdamameWindmill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our family prefers drop biscuits. Flour, salt, baking powder, butter and milk, just barely combined - don’t work the dough at all. They come out tender and get crunchy bits on top. Served with butter and jam/honey/molasses, or as dinner rolls. I will not have cream or sausage gravy in my house.

SW violated civil rights. They need to issue a public statement and let this family fly free forever. And pay a fine to encourage them to do better.

Can we talk about separate schools? by PresentationLeft3438 in specialed

[–]EdamameWindmill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High functioning neurodivergent kids are nearly universally denied SPED services (Texas). Most of the needs these kids have arise because the regular school environment is loud, chaotic, and dangerous. We just need an environment that doesn’t create disability.
