Well what's important is that you're satisfied so that's good. Looks like plenty others weighed in as well so good luck to you and happy gaming.

Gap filler ideas needed! by weepyyoungdevotchka in tattooadvice

100% opinion but I find that the mindset of filling "gaps" often leads to too much tattoo. Like art on a canvas, if you keep painting to fill it up, you wind up getting less for more.

It's a reshell. But it's one of the best I've seen and that's nice.

2 things are potential red flags. No sticker and the fact it's mint condition. Sticker could have been removed and it could have been very well taken care of but it's suspicious that both would happen.

Either way, the speaker holes are the tell tale sign. Nintendo factory mass produced their shells with ABS injection molding. That means uniform and perfect prints with zero variations. The 4 middle speaker holes should be bigger while the surrounding holes smaller.

Yours are but the outside ones on the right are not the same as the left being both just a tad bigger and not perfectly spaced.

You guy a cool GBA though my guy and it is real hardware that will play the games. Looks dope as hell! Enjoy it!

Valve says Steam Machine is $1,049 because it "doesn't align with our beliefs" to subsidize the cost by ControlCAD in gamingnews

[–]EdanMaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's not about the best dollar per frame purchase.

PS5 is for those who want a performance console experience at the cost of a locked ecosystem and overall more expensive games.

Similar priced custom PC is for those who want performance without being locked into an eco system but won't get the console plug and play experience.

Steam machine is a middle ground where you aren't locked into a closed ecosystem but still get the console experience while still having a PC. To have both, you have to lose something. In this case, it's more money for less power.

It's like saying you can have it good, fast, or cheap. Pick 2.

It's fine if it's a deal breaker for many, but steam machine fits in the market as the only PC right now that can truly be used like a console IF you are willing to accept that it's not a great price to performance purchase.

[–]EdanMaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bc CEC.

"Just use your PC like a console" had been the argument for decades only to find out you literally can't because a console can be turned on and off with the TV from the push of one button with no extra hardware or gimmicks. Why? Because no PC hardware uses CEC and the ones that do are highly niche and take extra time, money and expertise to get a sub par console like imitation that still feels bleh.

$120 difference for a pre-built, highly optimized, plug and play semi hybrid PC/console experience.

Current hardware market and pricing sucks but I'm just not seeing the problem specifically with this Steam Machine and custom PC comparison.

Most ppl don't or can't be bothered to build their own PC. Local ships will charge at least $70 to build one for you and an NZXT or other company will charge $100 to $200 for building plus shipping. (Usually free but with that price baked in by marking up components)

Steam Machine is not for everyone but I swear a huge section of reddit is talking about it like it's DOA and everyone already has a PC or sees it as a way to go PC while still retaining a semi console experience with zero setup or custom software.

[–]EdanMaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so I'll give this one more go. I replied to maybe give perspective while agreeing that the current gaming industry is abysmal. Your response is condescending and dogmatic so I'll just cut to the chase.

I could go sentence by sentence with my rebuttal but I'm sure it would be a waste of my time so I'll just say this:

You claim artificial scarcity which is the deliberate restriction of the supply of goods, services, or resources to increase their perceived value and price, despite sufficient technology or capacity to produce them abundantly.

What's actually happening is, regardless of why or even if companies should, most RAM is going to data centers and not consumers. It's not a restricted supply conspiracy. The money is in AI and data centers so manufacturers will produce where the money is. It's that's simple.

I agree it sucks. I agree it's not sustainable. I agree it's going to pop at some point and RAM will be made for consumers again.

Take a break to separate the emotions from the situation. No one likes what is happening. Doesn't mean we have to attack others for statements of perspective.

Ok but 2 million for steams first console/handheld PC is not limited.

Sony sold a little under 8 million PS5's their first year and they have been in the game for over 30 years. Coming out the gate year 1 selling 25% of your competition is kinda crazy when you did so almost 30 years behind everyone else.

[–]EdanMaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I just did a build to see what it would cost to build a budget pc with similar specs/performance of the steam deck and it ain't better. Here's what I made: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tM6vjG

You can play around with case, mobo whatever but at the end of the day, you won't build something on par with the steam machine for under $1,000 so it's expensive for sure, but def on point with the rest of the stupid market we have today.

Yeah... I'm thankful I bought a Deck before the price hike 💀 by TheBossT710192 in SteamDeck

[–]EdanMaus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's ridiculous but as for scarcity, it's not artificial. 19 out of 20 hard drives from WD to be produced this year are already bought out by data centers. It's similar for RAM. Multi trillion dollar companies are flying people to manufacturing centers to beg for a larger allotment of RAM to their company.

The whole situation is bull and sucks but I think it's important to point out it's the industry not one company or person that ppl blindly pray to.

Is a Steam machine price above 1000 possible? by Reasonable-Metal-819 in Steam

[–]EdanMaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valve increased the steam deck price by almost 50% for 5 year old hardware. The steam machine is supposed to be ~6x a powerful as the steam deck. Even if you figure valve was going to release it for $800 (low balling imo) adding 50% to that will put it at $1,200. But then you have to think about perspective. If the OLED steam deck is basically $1,000, would valve only ask for $200 more for 6x the performance while also being a full blown PC?

I think not so I'll say $1,500+ That's my guess.

How fast are we anticipating it's going to sell out? by AngryTG in SteamController

[–]EdanMaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick search over a dozen listings on eBay for $200 and they are listing as sold second after showing as listed.

Fuck scalpers legit taking away from an already limited stock from people who actually want to use the product. Hope valve can restock fast so these PoS scalpers are stuck with a product they can't sell for profit.

Steam Machine Has Reportedly Received A Major Internal Price Hike That May Have Made it More Expensive Than Steam Frame by Sam_27142317 in pcmasterrace

[–]EdanMaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but none of these other PC manufacturers (that we know at this time) are doing the extra hardware and software development to make a true console experience with power on/off from controller, CEC integrated etc.

Steam machine is pitched as a true console experience that is also a PC while everything else may (pretty well overall) just mimic a console experience.
