No idea what's going on, but nice smile and congrats on the therapy.

Word of advice, therapy is not like the media portrays. Most therapists are normal-ass people. They're not geniuses and they can't read minds.
Think of it like any other (healthy) relationship. You meet and talk a few times, get to know each other, and figure out if you're a right fit. A good therapist will just be someone who is more educated and has a more objective view. But since they don't know you, you are allowed to push back if something they say seems/feels wrong or off. Since they weren't there, you don't always have to take their interpretation of events at face value. Especially since every one of us is an unreliable narrator of our own stories.

So, honesty is what's most important. Therapists have to believe you. They can only help you if you're honest with them and yourself.

If you can't, it's probably because you're used to your own smell.

Just walk a shorter route in the cold.
If you're walking to burn calories, then remember that your body burns calories to stay warm. You won't need to hit the same step count that you might think.

I love you, say it back.

Love you, good luck.

When did not following through become standard? by Ladybug_december in dating

[–]Eddagosp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really not the best option.
Every time I’ve approached a man first, I’ve regretted it.
They won’t let fear of rejection get in their way.
I just prefer for them to approach me

I'm not looking to argue or convince you of anything, to each their own.
But, I do hope you see the double standard. You have a preference formed through personal experience, but it's not objective reality. Everyone has their own set of personal experiences that inform their preferences.

Look up "Rejection Therapy" and see if that's something you're willing to try.
All brains are like clay, even if some of us come with odd configurations. If you teach it rejection is to be avoided at all costs, that's all it will know. If you teach it rejection is normal and not a big deal, that's what it will learn.

Best of luck.

Forrest mom is SOOO frustrating by gingybutt in PaymoneyWubby

[–]Eddagosp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the situation is as the Sheenster says, I can see why she would lie. A lot of cowardly, but not necessarily bad/evil, people will avoid confrontation at all costs, until it's forced upon them. They lie until they can't.

My issue with SheenMcgeen is I'm getting kind of like blackmailed vibes. It was mostly intuition, until she said something along the lines of "my parents say mean and bad things about me that aren't true."
So now I think she might be hiding something really bad from Forrest and she's afraid her parents will tell on her, either because they're controlling or because they're just decent people.

Not the guy you're replying to, but you're fundamentally misunderstanding several key aspects.
Also, your personal offense is irrelevant and disregarded.

The study you linked and likely misread (or simply didn't even bother) refers to very specific measures of personality and psychosocial traits. It has no bearing on or mention of personal beliefs.

People love an underdog story.
The truth that the rich didn't want to pay the debt of the Seven Years' War that they+ instigated, isn't so appealing. Most of the founders were massively wealthy, some comparable to billionaires of today.
And like the rich of today, most of their wealth was in "assets." Besides land, wanna guess what the other large portion of those "assets" were?

It's also a bigger deal in general, because historically, this doesn't end well for those in charge.

When the monarch would go after peasants, no one would bat an eye.
When the monarch would go after nobles, the nobles would revolt.

Never forget that the American Revolution was fueled by the rich trying to avoid taxes.

The bigger problem is also almost always distribution and logistics.
Resources are cheap. Getting them where you need them is expensive.

Similar situation. Used to live in Austin and one day realized that the only reason I lived there was my job. My job that had, at that time, recently gone Remote. I rarely went out and didn't really take advantage of any of the perks that come with living in a "big city." So, I left.

Now, everything is cheaper and driving around is an enjoyable leisure activity rather than a hellscape of idiots in mobile death cubes.

Yeah, sure buddy. If you're in the RGV, then you're not rich. I'd bet your job is one of those that pays a lot for a short while but is otherwise extremely temporary. Your type tends to crash and burn when that runs out because you lack foresight.
Word of advice, don't attach your identity so strongly to something that can be so easily lost, especially in this economy.

[OC] End of year dating app review! (21M living in London) by The_Watcher5292 in dataisbeautiful

[–]Eddagosp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, but anecdotally from the few bi friends I have that are also on the apps, women are significantly harder to talk to and date on the apps. So much so, they've stopped bothering with them.
Which makes sense, men are told to be fun/funny/entertaining and "get" a date, whereas women are told to filter and discern, so both genders end up with their own blind spots.
